Hadrian — Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies make rockets, jets, and satellites 10x faster and 2x cheaper. Our CEO, Chris Power, discusses the importance of what we're building in this video.

We are a lean but mighty team (and growing!) people that are passionate about building critical infrastructure to support the nation and the advancement of humanity.

To support our ambitious vision, we have raised > $200M from Lux Capital, A16Z, Founders Fund, Construct Capital, Caffeinated Capital, and more.

About the FactoryOS team & this role

Hadrian's FactoryOS ("Flow") is the backbone of our operations, automating everything from day-to-day factory operations, to supply chain operations, to resource scheduling, hardware data integrations, quality inspection processes & more.

A core piece of Flow is our Scheduling and Forecasting systems, which ensures all resources (machine and human) are load balanced with optimal factory scheduling, provides accurate lead times to customers, and enables on-the-fly rescheduling in response to real world condition changes.

Scheduling and forecasting are key to preventing lead time misses, ensuring maximum utilization of resources & ensuring our Factory runs smoothly.

We have an expansive data set of our factory and our customers - if you want to build optimal solutions for automated space factories and help our customers ship rockets and satellites 2x faster and cheaper - we'd love to chat.

In this role you will

  • Architect v1 of our forecasting and modeling systems
  • Work with the manufacturing team to optimize for the real world and factory workflows
  • Work with the FactoryOS team to ensure data captured from the factory is suitable for data science needs
  • Build algorithms and processes that optimize lead times, profitability, utilization and throughput
  • Identify novel problems in Manufacturing that have not yet been explored, and solve and present them to leadership

This might be a good fit if you

  • 3+ years applying data science to solve real-world problems
  • 2+ years experience with implementing optimization models using a programming language like Python, C/C++, R, Java, or Julia.
  • Experience with using mathematical programming solvers such as Gurobi, Xpress MP, CPLEX, or Google OR Tools in applications.
  • Extremely well versed with data querying techniques across NoSQL and SQL platforms
  • Get a kick out of Manufacturing, Space, Defense and our mission
  • Experience driving novel insight through custom data analytics and machine learning.
  • Grasp product impacts to users and factory operations naturally
  • Can make tradeoffs between technical optimizations vs "real world" applications
  • Can project manage yourself and others to completion of a complex product if needed
  • Think in systems and want to extrapolate and extend shared patterns and behaviors
  • Take responsibility and ownership finding solutions no matter what
  • Can work from our Los Angeles Factory (Torrance)

Nice to have (or excited to learn! you don't have to possess these to be a great fit.)

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience with Prophet, darts, kats, or other forecasting libraries
  • Have extensive experience shipping modern, data-centric applications (our data systems use Argo-Workflows, Dagster, Superset, Aurora, RDS, S3, and back-ends are Go and Python, with gRPC/Avro and Kafka as our messaging platform)
  • Experience in Aerospace / Healthcare / FinTech fields (we handle sensitive data)

What we offer

  • Autonomy in how you execute, work with the best Advanced Manufacturing team in the US.
  • Work on something that actually positively impacts the Space Industry, The Country, and Humanity's future
  • Coaching from some of the best Scheduling / OR people in the world, if you so desire
  • Platinum Healthcare, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance
  • Build the factory that builds parts for Rockets, Satellites, Jets & Drones

We're looking for the best, and the best usually come with some career twists and turns.

Please apply even if you don't think you're a textbook perfect fit - we care more about skills, attitude and output than the school you went to (as an example).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
