Where You Fit

Our team is seeking a Data Scientist Lead who is highly motivated to take full ownership of the data science function, serving as the subject matter expert and strategic driver for the entire organization. You will define the long-term data science strategy and elevate our approach to modeling and experimentation.

Notably, this position is focused on technical leadership. You'll work closely with a cross-functional team, including Business Intelligence Analysts, Data Engineers, Software Engineers and the Director of Engineering. Project direction will be provided by our Product Integration Team, who are first-party members of client teams. Your main goal is to leverage your expertise to create production-ready models and strengthen decision-making across all teams to help achieve our goals of safeguarding our clients’ reputations through their digital assets.

What We Need:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Serve as the leader and owner of the data science function, setting technical direction, priorities, and standards.
  • Model Design & Implementation: Design and implement predictive and prescriptive models to support key business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Partner cross-functionally with BI, Data Engineering, and Product/Operations teams to integrate models and insights into business processes.
  • Performance & Scalability: Review and refine existing models, frameworks, and methodologies to improve performance and scalability.
  • Strategic Partnership: Act as the strategic thought partner to leadership, identifying new opportunities to leverage data science for competitive advantage.
  • Team Enablement & Mentorship: Mentor and upskill technical peers (BI analysts, engineers) in advanced analytics and machine learning concepts.
  • Organizational Communication: Represent data science across the organization — translating complex findings into business-ready recommendations.

The above description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

How We Evaluate:
  • 10+ years of experience in data science, applied machine learning, or advanced analytics.
  • Proven ability to lead data science initiatives end-to-end — from business framing and data preparation to modeling and deployment.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (Pandas, NumPy, etc.) and proficiency with SQL.
  • Extensive experience in designing and working within enterprise-level data warehouses. Snowflake experience is strongly preferred, though proficiency with similar large data frameworks will be considered.
  • Solid experience collaborating with data engineers and BI teams to productionize models and maintain data quality.
  • Strong grounding in statistics, experimentation, and causal inference.
  • Exceptional communication skills — can simplify technical topics and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in non-SaaS industries.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
