Role Definition:
The Manager of Threat, Attack, and Penetration Testing Services (TAPS) leads a team responsible for providing penetration test services across the enterprise. This includes engagement managers, ethical hackers, and third-party resources. The TAPS Manager collaborates with business teams to offer assessment and consulting services aimed at improving the security posture of technology solutions.
What You Will Do:
  • Developing the corporate penetration test program and TAPS team strategy.
  • Leading engagements to assess risk and recommend remediation plans and effective security solutions to mitigate threats and ensure secure solutions.
  • Consulting with business teams to properly scope penetration test engagements.
  • Providing leadership, organizational, and people skills, including persuasive and influencing abilities, to lead and motivate others to meet organizational goals.
  • Building partnerships with technology and business leaders to support cybersecurity and risk management initiatives.
  • Explaining complex solutions to business partners with varying technical expertise.
  • Leading technical teams to develop practical, actionable plans.
  • Helping to develop and maintain risk management programs to evaluate, rank, handle, and prevent logic and/or security risks.
  • Promoting the use of security practices and methods early in the development cycle.
  • Developing business cases to secure resources for the advancement of the penetration test program.
  • Keeping up to date with global threats by conducting rational risk assessment and security threat analysis.
  • Managing the capital and expense budget for the corporate penetration test program and maintaining vendor agreements and obligations.
  • Working quickly and independently with attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines.

What You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active, nationally recognized cybersecurity industry certification(s), such as GPEN, CISSP, CISM, GSLC or similar.
  • Experience in leading/managing large-scale, high profile security programs.
  • Background in secure code development, SDLC, security solution engineering, or architecture based on industry standards such as ISO27001, IEC 62443, NIST CSF, etc.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • General understanding of business operations including technical infrastructure, general business processes, parts warehousing, distribution, dealer processes, manufacturing, and engineering applications.

Expertise in network security and operational technology (OT):
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing network security measures and OT systems to protect critical infrastructure and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Budgeting:
  • Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget

Planning: Tactical, Strategic:
  • Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Talent Management:
  • Knowledge of the critical competencies required to achieve intended results; ability to generate consistent approaches for hiring, selecting, retaining, and leveraging talent across the organization.

Team Management:
  • Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

Information Technology (IT) Security Policies:
  • Knowledge of IT security policies, standards, and procedures; ability to utilize a variety of administrative skill sets and technical knowledge to ensure cyber security compliance.

Risk Management:
  • Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.

Cybersecurity:
  • Knowledge of network attacks and the defenses used; ability to defend and prevent electronic threats, theft, and attacks.
  • Strong knowledge of information security frameworks, such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF & 800 series, COBIT, PCI-DSS or FAIR
  • CISSP, CISM, CRISC or other security related certification or ability and willingness to obtain within one year.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, or implementing cybersecurity, information technology, or risk assessment activities.

Additional Info:
  • The primary location for this position is Nashville, TN, Peoria, IL, or Irving, TX.
  • Candidates must be willing to work onsite 5 days a week.
  • Relocation assistance is available for those who qualify.
  • This position requires less than 20% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
