The Customer Manager is responsible for managing multiple key accounts at the corporate level, as well as select independent accounts within an assigned territory. This role is focused on driving sales growth, expanding distribution, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring best-in-class retail execution across Natural and Specialty retail accounts.

The Customer Manager partners with store managers, department managers, buyers, and retail personnel to achieve sales objectives and deliver exceptional in-store results. This position serves as a key liaison between clients, retailers, and internal teams to ensure programs and initiatives are executed successfully.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive new item distribution and ensure timely speed-to-shelf execution.
  • Maintain planogram, merchandising, and promotional compliance.
  • Conduct product assortment, pricing, and competitive market surveys.
  • Sell and execute promotional programs to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Identify and secure incremental distribution and display opportunities.
  • Merchandise products enhance visibility, availability, and sales performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail partners and decision-makers.
  • Communicate regularly with Customer Managers and internal teams regarding execution priorities, new item launches, discontinuations, promotions, resets, and retail events.
  • Monitor account performance and identify opportunities to improve sales and execution.

Success in this role requires strong sales acumen, effective relationship management, attention to detail, and consistent execution of merchandising and promotional strategies that increase distribution, improve retail presence, and deliver incremental sales growth throughout the territory.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of six months of relevant experience in retail (CPG industry), marketing, space management, and/or resets. Sales administration or finance experience is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in Microsoft software, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with thorough knowledge of web-based applications. Excellent presentation and communication skills are a must.
  • Project Management: Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence retail partners.
  • Experience in sales, merchandising, account management, or retail execution.
  • Knowledge of the Natural and Specialty retail channel preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the assigned territory.
