Description

Culture & Communications Specialist

Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer

Location: Full-time onsite at our new Santa Clara headquarters. This is a role where being in the room matters.  You'll build culture by living it alongside your colleagues every day.

Type: Full-Time

Department: Human Resources

About EBR Systems

At EBR Systems, we're not imagining the future of cardiac care. We're building it. We are the team behind the world's first FDA-approved leadless left ventricular endocardial pacing device for heart failure. It's a breakthrough that's redefining what's possible, and it's just the beginning.

Based in Silicon Valley, we're advancing the WiSE System, a first-of-its-kind device in cardiac rhythm management. Your work here has a direct line to patients whose lives depend on what we build. We hire people who want to solve hard problems and who care about getting it right.

We invest in our people as much as our technology. Expect a collaborative, transparent culture, real career growth in a fast-moving startup, competitive compensation, equity, comprehensive benefits, and generous PTO.

If you want your work to matter, EBR is where you belong.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Internal Communications & Employee Engagement Specialist who is organized, a strong writer, and genuinely energized by people and culture. In this newly created role, you will help execute how EBR communicates internally, supporting the events that bring our team together, administering the programs that recognize great work, coordinating the surveys that give employees a voice, and helping produce the communications that keep a growing, distributed team connected.

This role reports directly to the CHRO and works across the full HR team. It's an early-career opportunity with real visibility - you'll see how a scaling medtech company builds its culture from the inside, and you'll have a direct hand in shaping it.

What You'll Do

Internal Communications

  • Content & Calendar: Support the internal communications calendar - drafting Town Hall content, company announcements, milestone moments, and leadership messages as directed by the CHRO.
  • Global Town Hall: Help produce the company-wide meeting every quarter - content support, run-of-show coordination, and logistics.
  • Channels: Maintain the SharePoint People hub and internal communications channels; keep content current and organized.
  • Writing Support: Draft employee communications for people and leadership initiatives.

Digital & Technology Communications

  • Cybersecurity Awareness: Coordinate employee-facing communications for EBR's cybersecurity programs, including security reminders, best practices, and policy rollouts.
  • Technology Adoption: Help communicate new platform and tool rollouts to employees - translate technical or policy-heavy content into clear, readable messaging.

Employee Engagement

  • Surveys: Administer employee engagement surveys using established tools. Coordinate distribution, track participation, compile results, and prepare summary reports for CHRO review.
  • Recognition: Coordinate the companywide recognition program - manage nominations, prepare announcements, and handle distribution.
  • New Hire Experience: Support the culture layer of new hire onboarding - welcome kits, first-day moments, swag coordination, and company-wide new hire announcements.

Events

  • Event Coordination: Help plan and execute company events; support agenda development and employee experience elements.
  • Logistics Support: Partner with the People Ops Coordinator to coordinate programming elements within approved budget.

Requirements

What You'll Bring
  • Experience: 2–3 years in internal communications, employee engagement, event coordination, or a closely related role.
  • People Instincts: You genuinely like people and want them to feel informed, recognized, and connected! That shows up in how you write, how you plan, and how you show up at events.
  • Organization: Detail-oriented and reliable.  You track what needs to happen, follow through without being reminded, and keep multiple balls in the air without dropping them.
  • Digital Fluency: Comfortable communicating about technology topics to a non-technical audience; you don't need to be an IT expert, but you write clearly about things that might otherwise feel dry or technical.
  • Writing: Strong written communication skills - you can adapt your tone for different audiences and formats, from a recognition announcement to a security reminder.
  • Event Coordination: Some experience supporting or coordinating events; you understand logistics, communicate proactively with vendors, and keep things moving.
  • Presence: Must be excited to be onsite with the team 5 days/week!
  • Mission Alignment: Healthcare, medtech, or mission-driven company experience a plus - but genuine enthusiasm for what EBR is building matters more than the resume line.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000.
  • Additional Compensation: Eligible for an annual performance bonus.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits (employee-only covered at 100%)
  • 401k program with match
  • Generous PTO
  • Education stipend
  • A front-row seat to a commercial launch. You will help shape how a scaling medtech company communicates and connects with its people at a pivotal moment in our growth
  • A mission that matters: giving life-saving technology to patients with no other options

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
