GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Supervises credit assistants, credit representative, third party collection agencies and helps with daily operations of the entire department. This role requires a forward‑thinking leader who actively evaluates existing credit and collections processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and implements more efficient, scalable practices. This individual is expected to audit workflows regularly, recommend enhancements, and drive adoption of best‑in‑class methods. The ideal candidate proactively analyzes trends, leverages data to strengthen decision‑making, and collaborates with cross‑functional partners to streamline operations and improve overall departmental performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include recruiting, coaching and supervising a team of 2 or more credit assistant(s) responsible for reviewing credit history, trade/bank references, financial statements and other pertinent data to determine credit worthiness. Also recruits, coaches and supervises 6 or more credit representatives. This position requires a minimum of 2 years experience in accounts receivable, supervision, customer service and collection experience. conducts research, compiles and types statistical reports for areas of responsibility. Establish benchmark performance measurements for each position under supervision. Recruits, coaches, does performance evaluation and career pathing, trains all personnel under supervision. Continuous analysis of business processes to find ways of improvement. Helps keep departmental procedures updated for areas of responsibility. Attends meetings and conducts training for sales when called upon. Manages collection efforts for direct reports to company goals (Past Due under 15%, Gross Suspense placement under .85%). Oversees custody of customer files. Completes special projects when called upon. Orders and maintains supplies and arranges for equipment maintenance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no subordinate supervisors reporting to this job. There are no employees who report direct to this job.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribe style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Dunn-Edwards Management Essentials.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Must have at least an intermediate level of MS Office software: Excel, Word, Access. Must have good written and oral communication skills. Multi-tasking and able to handle pressure are a must. Good presentation, supervision/team building and negotiating skills. Good driving record. Must be willing to travel.
