Job Summary:

The Creative Development Producer role is perfect for a writer/director/editor who has honed their skills in all three of those areas. This role might be for you if you’re an idea machine who can’t stop thinking of cool shots and fun ads.

Ruggable has a robust team of producers, copywriters, and editors, but we need someone who can effectively harness these resources to develop compelling video creative. In this role, you’ll direct commercials and special projects for the production team. As the director, you will guide creative development in each phase—brainstorming, storyboarding, and building pitch decks. You’ll also create a music and storyboard animatic that communicates the project's vision to our post-production team, enabling them to work independently while you move on to the next project.

You’ll continue to develop creative content with your post-production abilities. Leveraging our extensive library of previously shot footage, you’ll write and edit ads, connecting the dots between audience, available footage, and marketing objectives. Additionally, you may be tasked with editing spec ads and crafting assembly edits for the post team. Given that our team’s remote server workflow is a cutting-edge post process, we need someone with extensive Adobe Premiere Pro experience.

While this role spans every phase of video production, you’ll be part of a team, so you won’t shoulder every production phase alone. You must be able to work independently and in a large team while addressing the needs of multiple stakeholders.

  • Note: this is a hybrid role, requiring multiple days a week on-set in Gardena.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
