You will join a team of lawyers that were trained at top tier law schools and firms who continue to apply and grow their exceptional legal skills as business-minded practitioners in collaboration with our Wonderful family of businesses.
The Wonderful legal team is a full-service law group with approximately 100 individuals (including 50 attorneys). Our corporate team has over 15 lawyers and is a part of our broader transactional group that also includes real estate, employment, intellectual property, regulatory, education and government affairs teams. Our lawyers actually do the legal work for our businesses instead of just managing outside counsel. This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
Job Description- Handle large complex deal work (without outside counsel) at top-tier firm quality with a business-minded approach.
- Advise business units on corporate and finance matters.
- Negotiate and draft documents for a wide variety of complex business transactions involving both domestic and international issues including purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, financing documents, distribution agreements, license agreements, service agreements, supply agreements and lease agreements.
- Act as lead associate on M&A and financing deals, responsible for overseeing all aspects of diligence as well as producing first drafts of all deal documents with minimal supervision.
- “Own” projects – ask questions, take responsibility, think outside the box and make risk-appropriate judgment calls with limited supervision
- Proactively identify, and actively participate in improving, inefficiencies or waste within the department and across our businesses
- 5-7 years of broad-based complex transactional experience (including M&A and financings) in a top-tier law firm.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex deal documents.
- Experience working as a mid-level associate on a larger team, as well as taking the lead role on smaller projects.
- Ability to provide business-minded legal advice to business unit executives.
- Demonstrated excellent judgment, common sense and ability to work well with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to provide top-quality, proactive, accurate and effective legal support in a fast-moving environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong academic credentials, excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written skills required.
- JD from top tier law school.
- Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of California.
Pay Range: $225,000 - $275,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
