Job Description

Abode Communities seeks an Accounting Manager of Property Operations. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Finance/Controller, the main function of this position is to manage and oversee the daily activities of the operating property accounting unit. In addition, this position will apply standardized US-GAAP accounting principles to financial reporting, review account schedules and supporting documentation, prepare general and standard journal entries, assist in budget development, and adhere to the reporting deadlines set by management. 

The Accounting Manager will manage and supervise a talented team of property accountants and Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist that currently serve 54 residential properties throughout Southern California. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will maintain a small portfolio of properties themselves to stay abreast of the current needs of the properties. 

Equivalent Education, Experiences, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: 

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, and/or Finance or related fields 

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred 

• 5+ years of relevant experience 

• Experience in managing, supervising, and motivating a team of accounting professionals 

• Real estate property management accounting experience preferred 

• Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook 

• Experience using accounting and property management software such as AVID, MRI, RealPage, or Yardi 

Compensation and Benefits 

Salaries are commensurate with the education and experience of the finalist. Additionally, a full benefits package is offered which includes: health, dental and vision insurance, long term disability insurance, 401K plan, paid vacation and sick leave benefits. Abode Communities' corporate staff work on a 9/80 schedule allowing for every other Friday off.
