Humana is looking for a Manager, Copywriting to lead a team of writers who create clear, compelling, audience-centered communications across campaigns, channels, and customer experiences. Reporting to the Creative Director, this role helps shape voice, messaging, and editorial quality while supporting work that builds trust and improves understanding for members, patients, caregivers, and communities.
In a typical day, you may review campaign concepts, coach copywriters, provide direct feedback on messaging, partner with designers and strategists, and ensure work is consistent with Humana’s brand voice, audience needs, and business objectives.

The Manager, Copywriting leads day-to-day copy development for Humana’s creative and content organization. This role manages a team of copywriters, providing direct feedback to maintain consistency in voice and messaging for clearly defined audiences. The manager partners with creative, strategy, marketing, operations, compliance, and business stakeholders to deliver clear, compliant, on-brand communications across channels. This work supports Humana by helping members, patients, agents, and caregivers better understand health information, products, services, and next steps. 

Key Role Functions

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of copywriters by providing clear feedback, prioritization support, and craft guidance

  • Review and approve copy concepts, headlines, messaging, and content to ensure brand voice, audience relevance, quality, and compliance readiness

  • Translate strategic briefs, business objectives, audience insights, and performance inputs into compelling copy direction across digital, print, email, social, video, direct mail, and integrated campaigns

  • Partner with creative directors, designers, strategists, project managers, compliance partners, and business stakeholders to align messaging, timelines, feedback, and delivery expectations

  • Identify opportunities to improve writing standards, editorial practices, workflow efficiency, and the use of technology, including GenAI, to support scalable content development

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Advertising, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • 6+ years of professional copywriting, content development, advertising, marketing communications, or related creative experience

  • 2+ years of people leadership, supervisory, team lead, or workstream leadership experience, including coaching writers and providing direct creative feedback

  • Portfolio demonstrating strong copywriting craft, concept development, headline writing, campaign thinking, and multi-channel execution aligned to strategic briefs

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop audience-centered, brand-aligned content across digital, print, email, social, direct mail, web, video, or integrated campaign channels

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working in healthcare, health insurance, financial services, government, or another regulated industry

  • Experience leading copy development within an agency, in-house agency, enterprise marketing, or matrixed creative organization

  • Experience developing customer lifecycle marketing, acquisition, engagement, retention, Medicare, Medicaid, CenterWell, provider, or member communications

  • Experience using creative collaboration, workflow, personalization, or content delivery tools such as Workfront, Figma, Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Journey Optimizer, SharePoint, or similar platforms

  • Experience applying GenAI, prompt development, content testing, performance insights, accessibility standards, plain language, or editorial style guides to improve content quality and effectiveness

Location & Work Arrangement 

  • Preferred locations: Arlington, VA; Louisville, KY; Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Tampa, FL; Nashville, TN; Dallas, TX; Seattle, WA; Denver, CO; Fort Lauderdale, FL

  • Periodic in-office work may be required to support collaboration, key meetings, and leadership engagement. Remote options will be considered based on role needs and candidate experience

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$104,000 - $143,000 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
