BGS Freighter Conversions Team is seeking a Converted Freighters Systems Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to make an immediate impact on key programs. Our products are used by airlines around the world to rapidly transport cargo such as fresh food, humanitarian supplies, and e-commerce. We connect the world and improve people's lives by enabling access to critical goods.
The selected candidate will be based in sunny Long Beach, California and will collaborate with a global team to convert existing passenger aircraft into state-of-the-art freighters. In this position they will be able to combine the deep expertise and resources of the entire Boeing enterprise with the flexibility and fast pace of a post-production modification program to continuously raise the bar for technical excellence and product quality.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Mid-Level or Senior Converted Freighters Systems Engineer.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads a cross-functional engineering team focused on project execution
  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues
  • Identifies and leads improvement initiatives to improve quality, reduce cost, and reduce flow
  • Develop statements of work to satisfy program objectives, ongoing and new business requirements
  • Collaborates with Program Management to develop integrated project plans and project schedules
  • Responds to changes in statement of work by assessing the impact and negotiating the proposed changes to project deliverables, resources, costs and schedules
  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
  • Identifies project risks and opportunities. Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity capture
  • Identifies and tracks engineering performance metrics
  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned
  • Self-motivated and works under minimal direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (included manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years' experience with aircraft structures, aircraft systems, aircraft level integration, or systems/safety engineering
  • 5+ years' experience in an engineering role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years' experience leading teams or projects
  • Experience with Boeing Aircraft, specifically 737, 767, 787 and their derivatives
  • Experience with freight aircraft design
  • Experience with commercial aircraft modifications and/or freighter conversions
  • Experience with FAA certification requirements (14 CFR Part 21 & 25)
  • Experience with Boeing's Organization Delegation Authorization (ODA) procedures
  • Advanced knowledge and familiarity with Boeing Commercial Airplanes drawings, processes, and specifications
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development
  • Experience with providing briefings to senior and executive level management
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Ability to lead and uphold a culture of proactive safety, first-time quality, and continuous improvement

Summary pay range Mid-Level (Level 3): $104,550 - $141,450
Summary pay range Senior (Level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
