SUMMARY: 

Parachute Home is hiring for a Controller in Los Angeles, CA headquarters to lead the next round of growth/ This hands-on Controller has strong experience with direct-to-consumer (DTC) and consumer goods businesses, brings expertise in inventory accounting, and thrives in a cross-functional environment. This role requires a detail-oriented leader who can manage the close process, produce accurate and timely financial reporting, rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts and provide insights to drive strategic decisions.

Reports to: CFO

Location: LA Based – Hybrid M-Th in office

What You’ll Do:

  • Month-End Close: Lead and execute all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Inventory Accounting: Build and reimagine end-to-end inventory accounting & forecasting including reconciliations, costing, reserves, and controls
  • Cash Flow Management & manage day-to-day Bank relationships: Own, update, and manage a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast; monitor liquidity and working capital. Provide sensitivity analysis
  • Variance Analysis: Review monthly budget vs. actual variance reports, investigate discrepancies, and provide recommendations to leadership
  • Ad Hoc Financial Analysis: Partner with management & FP&A team member to deliver scenario models, profitability analysis, and decision-support reporting
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Develop, maintain, and document policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls 
  • Audit & Tax Support: Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to support annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, merchandising, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure alignment of financial reporting with business activities
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Optimize accounting systems, ERP processes, and department workflows to improve efficiency and scalability. Help ensure accuracy in data and reporting across the organization
  • Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor small accounting team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and professional development

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) required; DTC and inventory industry experience strongly preferred
  • Proven knowledge of inventory accounting and cost management
  • 3-5 years senior experience in NetSuite is required for this role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with non-financial teams
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

Parachute takes a market-based approach to pay and pay may vary depending on your location. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. The estimated pay range for this role is $200,000 - $215,000 plus annual discretionary bonus.
