About the Role
Our client, a leader in zero-emission transportation solutions and advanced electric bus manufacturing, is seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee the financial operations of its Pasadena location. This role is pivotal in driving financial accuracy, enhancing internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making for a rapidly growing clean-tech organization.
The Controller will lead core accounting functions, ensure compliance with GAAP, manage financial reporting, and partner with executive leadership to support operational and manufacturing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all daily accounting operations including AP/AR, GL, payroll, and cost accounting.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Develop internal management reports, KPIs, and dashboards for executive leadership.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting processes and ongoing financial forecasts.
Conduct variance analyses and provide actionable insights to operations, supply chain, and leadership teams.
Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
Oversee cost accounting for vehicle manufacturing and assembly operations.
Maintain BOM accuracy, inventory valuation, and labor/overhead allocations.
Support product costing initiatives and margin improvement projects.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Strengthen and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Work closely with auditors during external and internal audit processes.
Ensure compliance with tax requirements and regulatory obligations.
Leadership & Collaboration
Manage and develop a small but high-performing accounting team.
Partner with operations, supply chain, procurement, and HR on cross-functional initiatives.
Support ERP improvements and data integrity across systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing or industrial experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory accounting.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and leadership capabilities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
