THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Contracts Specialist at Brisk Teaching, you'll play a key role in supporting our Sales and Customer Success teams by keeping contracts moving efficiently and thoughtfully from review to signature. You'll work hands-on with a wide range of commercial agreements—primarily involving public school and district customers—and partner closely with internal stakeholders while engaging directly on contract-related questions as deals progress. This is a unique opportunity to support a fast-growing, mission-driven edtech company where your work helps enable customer relationships, protect the business, and support long-term customer success.

YOU WILL:
  • Support Sales and Customer Success by managing contract review and negotiation throughout the deal cycle

  • Conduct first-pass legal reviews of commercial agreements, including service agreements, data privacy agreements, vendor agreements, RFPs, and related contractual terms

  • Redline, negotiate, and coordinate contract execution in partnership with Sales, Customer Success, and other internal stakeholders

  • Balance legal and operational risk with business needs to support efficient, scalable deal execution

  • Respond to time-sensitive, urgent requests and contract-related questions from Sales, Customer Success, and customers during active negotiations

  • Provide guidance on non-standard or complex deal terms and identify when escalation is required

  • Track contract status, key terms, and exceptions to support efficient deal flow

YOU HAVE:
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in contracts or commercial legal support

  • Ideally at least 3 years of in-house experience supporting a SaaS or technology company

  • Strong contract management skills, including experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing commercial agreements

  • Availability to work 10–20 hours per week for 4 months (contract may be extended longer depending on need)

  • Flexibility to maintain regular availability during overlapping U.S. business hours (approximately 10am–3pm PT)

  • Familiarity with data privacy and security concepts relevant to SaaS transactions, including AI-related considerations

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple contracts in parallel, and balance speed with risk awareness

BONUS:
  • Legal Education - JD, Paralegal, or equivalent

  • Experience supporting education, public sector, or other regulated customers

  • Prior experience working closely with Sales and Customer Success teams

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
