We’re a tight-knit, collaborative group responsible for supporting many teams throughout the organization to ensure they have the resources they need to be successful while likewise protecting Asana’s core values and interests. We run ideas past each other, we problem-solve together, we partner with other groups to navigate them through challenging issues, and we’re growing our team.

Specifically, we’re looking for a U.S. East Coast-based Senior Contracts Manager to primarily support contracts and transactions driven by our global channel partner organization, with additional support for direct sales matters as needed. In this role you’ll work closely with individuals on our channel team and across the organization, enabling strategic growth through partner-driven go-to-market models. This is a great opportunity to join a mission-driven company and offers exposure to a wide variety of commercial and operational issues while helping scale a high-impact global program.

This role can either be fully remote depending on which US state you live in, or based in our New York City office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. If based in-office: The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve:

  • Strategically partner with our global channel partner team, with some support for direct sales teams as necessary.
  • Support various areas of the business by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of  commercial agreements including Partner Program Terms, Reseller Agreements, Collaborative Agreements, Subscriber Terms, Data Processing Addendums, and Order Forms, and advising on a variety of other partner-driven requests.
  • Interface directly with the channel partner team to provide ongoing enablement training, including guidance on commonly requested revisions and non-standard terms and structures, and responses to general contract questions.
  • Negotiate directly with counterparty legal teams, owning communications to reach practical and scalable agreement outcomes.
  • Help maintain and  improve processes and systems and manage change to better service channel operations, including developing scalable contracting frameworks, playbooks, and standards to support a business in high-growth mode.
  • Support and manage a variety of ad hoc projects with the team as they arise.

About you:

  • 5+ years experience negotiating commercial technology agreements, including channel partner agreements, in an in-house legal or contracts management role, preferably at a SaaS technology company.
  • Strong experience supporting a channel partner team with a solid understanding of SaaS business models and common channel structures (i.e. resale, distribution, referral, GSI).
  • Additional experience supporting direct outbound sales and/or public sector go-to-market organizations a plus.
  • Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability both to assess relevant/material risks quickly and communicate those risks to business partners with a focus on making the complicated understandable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively and comfortably collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels and willingness to use the Asana collaborative work management platform and additional tools to understand the business, support internal alignment, and work efficiently.
  • Track record of taking initiative, having the ability to work independently, handle multiple projects with competing deadlines, and ability to thrive in ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with channel partner teams, sales, finance, revenue accounting, legal operations, and deal desk teams.
  • Collaborative and solutions-oriented with a passion for closing deals while protecting Asana’s values and business interests.
  • Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
