The Opportunity...
Centerfield's Consumer Guides help more than 30 million Americans choose the right product or service for their needs each year, in categories such as internet, TV, home security, identity theft, medical alert devices and education.
The Vice President of Editorial serves a critical role within the Consumer Guides team and provides leadership across three editorial sections: reviews, rankings and product expertise. The VP should have proven experience in recruiting and managing a large editorial staff of in-house and freelance talent. In addition, this position will need to develop and maintain the highest standards of quality, relevance and timeliness. The VP must possess operational and communication skills, and the ability to balance competing priorities while meeting business goals.
The VP must be passionate about writing, editing and producing a ton of content that is considered best-in-class for the topics it covers.

How You'll Contribute...

  • Recruit, hire and manage a team of category experts and writers across a wide variety of product and service categories.
  • Have a strong point-of-view on best-in-class content and understand how Google’s definition of top-quality content is changing and might influence our strategy.
  • Be enthusiastic not just about creating best-in-class content but doing hands-on editing and mentorship to our writers.
  • Develop and pitch creative ideas to senior management on new content.
  • Understand competitive landscape and synthesize that into content strategy.
  • Work directly with executive team and writing teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Jump into new categories and provide a content POV.

What We're Looking For...

  • 10-15+ years of experience managing editorial teams
  • Proven ability to hire expert writers.
  • Proven, published content portfolio for review.
  • Ideal candidates will have produced interactive and/or video content in addition to written content.
  • Ideal candidates will have knowledge of how SEO and/or web development relate to content.
  • Ability to work in a demanding and fast paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task in a demanding customer-oriented environment
  • Positive attitude towards service while managing difficult situations

The media buying team collaborates with other teams on a daily basis in order to ensure that our campaigns run smoothly. We use multiple different channels to collaborate, especially Slack. We have slack channels for each department which allows us to easily communicate with other teams when we need their help.
