About Sauna by Wordware

Every tool you use was built as an island, so you became the glue between them. You carry a name from Gmail into the CRM, a time from the CRM into Calendly, a note from Calendly into a doc. AI showed up and mostly became an eleventh window to paste into.
Sauna is a hybrid of AI and software standing on one shared brain. It holds your context and hands you real software built on top of it. You talk to it like a chatbot and use what it builds like an app: software for the path you repeat, AI for the edge that never repeats. Keep it to yourself, or share the brain with your team.
The clearest way to see it is a tool doing what its whole category cannot. An ordinary Calendly shows a stranger your free slots. Your Calendly writes the invite email itself, because it knows how the two of you know each other, and it offers a board member the slot over your gym block, because it knows which of your busy hours bend and for whom.
Wordware is the team behind it, 15 people backed by Spark Capital, Felicis, and Y Combinator with a $30M seed, the largest in YC's history. We build from an office in the Presidio, fifty metres from Crissy Field beach, and we work absurdly hard because we can see and feel the outcome every day.
About the Role:

The founder has a list of videos worth making and a track record of pieces that reached millions. The ideas aren't the problem. What's missing is someone who keeps them moving: filming, cutting, and publishing steadily enough that the list actually becomes videos.
You work alongside our Creative Director / Story Crafter, who owns the narrative and the visual direction, and you report to them once that hire lands. Until then you report to the CEO. You run the pipeline underneath the narrative. A camera gets set up every morning, footage gets cut the same day, posts go out on a schedule, and nobody has to chase anyone for it.
Volume matters here. We'd rather have five good pieces this week than one perfect one this month, and you're the person who knows where the line between good and sloppy sits.
We don't use seniority titles at Wordware. Producer is the job, not a rank. Prove the pipeline works and this seat grows; we promote from inside before we post outside.

What You'll Do:

  • Capture, and never lose a take. Film the founder and the office daily. Set up, shoot, back up, archive.

  • Edit fast. Cut the videos, write the captions, get the hook into the first three seconds, resize for every platform. Turnaround measured in hours, not days.

  • Publish on a cadence. X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube Shorts. Five pieces a week, on schedule.

  • Own the library. Raw footage, transcripts, cuts, thumbnails. Named, organized, searchable.

  • Run an AI-assisted pipeline. AI tooling does the boring half of this job: transcription, captions, voiceover, versioning, and AI-assisted cuts. You already use tools like this and you're the one who finds the next thing worth wiring in.

  • Keep the idea list honest. There's a running list of video concepts that are already thought through. Every Monday, the next few become shot lists. Every Friday, they've shipped or there's a real reason they didn't.

  • Make the Creative Director faster. Once they're in, you run capture and first cuts so they spend their time on narrative and craft, not the timeline.

Who You Are:

  • A fast, obsessive editor. Premiere, CapCut, or Resolve, your pick. Motion design is a bonus, not the bar. Your cuts don't drag; you watch your own work twice and fix the half-second that's off.

  • Detail-driven where it shows. Captions spelled right, hooks tested, thumbnails that earn the click. You care about the details the audience feels without noticing.

  • A systems person. Checklists, templates, naming conventions. Your file structure survives a vacation.

  • AI-native. You already use AI tools to do your job faster, and you're the kind of person who keeps replacing manual steps with tooling.

  • A self-starter in the literal sense. An idea goes from spoken sentence to published post without being managed there.

  • Comfortable with volume and with taste. You can hold a quality bar and a posting cadence at the same time.

Probably not a fit if:

  • You would rather direct the work than make it.

  • You need a brief, a moodboard, and a sign-off before you can start cutting.

  • One perfect piece a month is the work you want to be doing.

  • You want to do this remotely, or from a studio that isn't our office.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base salary: $80,000 to $130,000, depending on experience and how much of the role you can own from day one + meaningful early-stage equity. Contract-to-hire is welcome for exceptional candidates.

Standard Wordware benefits: medical, dental, and vision; daily lunch and dinner in the office; 401(k); gym budget; considerable PTO; the Presidio office with a sauna and the beach across the road.

How to apply:

Send us a one-minute intro video, recorded however you like. Tell us who you are and why this work fits you. One take, no edits required — we're watching how you show up, not your lighting.

We watch this before anything else on your application.

The Process:

We keep our process simple. Exceptional candidates go from first touch to offer within 2 weeks.

1. Application: Submit your resume and your one-minute intro video.

2. 15-minute intro call: Quick check to align on location, motivation, and logistics. If it's a go, we move fast from here.

3. Craft review: Walk us through cuts you've made and the decisions behind them.

4. Final conversation: We answer your questions and scope out the work trial.

5. Work trial: Paid, in person, usually a few days to two weeks. You edit real footage with us. See how we work, see if it fits, both sides.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
