Content Creative

We'd love to receive a cover letter explaining why you're applying as well as a portfolio demonstrating some of your previous work.

thatgamecompany is best recognized for creating award-winning, enriching, and meaningful game titles such as Sky, Journey, Flower, and flOw.

Our 3rd party publishing team is seeking a Content Creative who can turn moments and emotions into culture-shaping narratives that players feel compelled to share. This position will operate both on a strategic and hands-on level, and constant out-of-box thinking.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and guide the creative voice of our games’ marketing, shaping visuals that capture not just how a game looks, but how it feels

  • Create static and video content that extends the player’s emotional journey. Turn gameplay, story, and atmosphere into moments that live beyond the gameplay

  • Partner with the social & community team to craft short form pieces that spark conversation, invite participation, and carry the spirit of each game into families, friendships, and communities of all ages

  • Work with development teams to produce trailers and promotional materials that reflect the heart of the game

Who We Are Looking For

  • Familiarity with and passionate about indie gaming communities and their cultures, paired with genuine curiosity for audiences less represented in gaming. Our goal is to expand who games are for, not just speak to those already here

  • A creative portfolio that demonstrates emotional storytelling, taste, and the ability to move people through visual and narrative design

  • Proven experience directing, shooting, and editing high-quality visual content - from still imagery to trailers and motion pieces - for games or entertainment brands

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with 3D or animation workflows

  • Fluent in using in-app creator tools and social platforms, with an eye for emerging trends and new storytelling formats

  • Versatile in adapting style across different games and audiences while maintaining an authentic emotional voice

  • Experience collaborating with indie or experimental teams and balancing creative independence with commercial impact

  • Curiosity and openness to exploring new ways to express emotion through visuals, story, and play

Perks:

• Paid Time Off, Holidays, and Two Weeks Winter Break

• Employees and their dependents get medical, dental, and vision coverage, regardless of their level, tenure, or position within the company. Moreover, these benefits start on the first day of the job—there’s no waiting period before they kick in.

• Pet Insurance for those who need it too.

• Compassionate leave for employees who needs to take care of their family members

• Pre-tax wellness stipend

• Pre-tax work from home stipend

• Access our savings plan (401K program) with company match

• Mental health resources including Headspace membership and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Discount portal for everyday goods and services

• Employee inclusive and diversity initiatives such as Grow Together

• Support for personal professional development

We look forward to meeting you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
