Responsibilities

Peaton is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support the JPL/NASA Deep Space Network (DSN) administrative network at Monrovia, Goldstone and JPL. Network’s (DSN) lifecycle of enterprise assets.


This role is critical to ensure that all hardware and software configurations are documented, version-controlled, and compliant with DSN internal and external processes, standards and policies. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our Configuration Items Management Services (CIMS) data system, which provides on-line processing support for the DSN 820-061 and MGSS Configuration Items.


What You'll Do:  

  • Baseline Management: Establish and maintain hardware and software configuration baselines for multiple environments.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to the user community in the preparation, policies and procedures for entry and exit criteria into the ECM process.
  • Life Cycle Management: Ensure changes to the DSN are processed properly and efficiently using the MIDAS tool; a web-based workflow application that provides online support for the definition, sign-off, delivery & installation tracking of modifications for hardware and software configuration items, as well as hardware spares and lien item deliveries
  • Change Governance: Review and authorize releases of drawings, code changes, and technical specifications via formal processes like ECR/ECO (Engineering Change Requests/Orders). MIDAS also supports the DSN Engineering Change Request and Delivery Lien processes.
  • CIMS Administration: Maintain the CIMS database to track software and hardware assets, their status, inter-relationships, engineering roles and responsibilities.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Perform periodic audits to ensure systems match documented configurations and comply with regulatory or internal standards.
  • Change Control Board (CCB) Secretary: Prepare and distribute agendas for the CCB meetings, take and prepare minutes of the CCB meetings, decisions along with a list of action items, and maintain a Web site for the posting of all CCB documentation and activities.
  • Maintain work instructions pertaining to ECM processes.
  • Provide lien status metrics for the monthly (Program Management Review (PMR).
  • Process and release DSN Task System Safety Checklists and maintain a website.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Experience in an engineering environment in support of an engineering change function or related
  • Skilled in performing effectively under aggressive deadlines
  • Experience interfacing successfully across various departmental levels
  • The successful candidate will have aforementioned skills and be highly motivated and disciplined to work and function with a minimum of supervision.
  • Able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship
  • You must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License (Real ID)

Target Salary Range$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
