About Us:
Maverick Payments is a family-owned and privately held full-service payment provider. Located in Calabasas, California, Maverick has created innovative technology designed for sales organizations, such as ISO’s and ISV’s, looking to monetize payments by reselling our white-labeled payments stack. Our payment products include merchant acquiring services, a proprietary gateway, ACH processing, fraud & chargeback tools, analytics, and other value-add services. Maverick’s team includes underwriting, risk management, compliance & legal, technology & product development, on-boarding, customer support, information technology, and more.
About the Position: 
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Lead is responsible for enforcing compliance policies and procedures in order to safeguard the operational integrity of Maverick and its customers. Serves as subject matter expert for compliance team and supports troubleshooting complex compliance matters.
  • Respond to compliance related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.
  • Investigate potential compliance violations and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist Risk Department personnel to investigate abnormal processing patterns and recommend appropriate mitigation.
  • Review of merchant activity for increased credit risk, transactional variations, dispute activity, and fraud patterns.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards that could impact the organization’s compliance obligations.
  • Acts as lead specialist and subject matter expert to assist with escalated and more complex compliance matters,
  • Assisting with projects related to Compliance / Risk Management / Loss Prevention and other duties as assigned by the AVP Risk, VP Risk and COO.
  • Monitor and report on compliance related activities and trends to senior management.
  • Assisting training of new and existing employees as assigned.
  •   Supporting specialized projects on an as-needed basis as directed by Executive team.
  •   Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years prior experience in Risk Management within acquiring industry. Degree a plus.
  • Experience with intermediate Excel applications.
  • Experience with various Risk Management tools including, without limitation, TSYS, Merlink, E-connections, G2, Legit Script, MasterCard Connect, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Understanding of Card Brand rules and regulations and understanding of various and complex verticals and associated risks.
  • Ability to analyze, test, assess and / or interpret information or data provided by the Development group to make recommendations to enhance business operations.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and trends in the payments space.
  • Possesses strong analytical and research skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously while producing a high output of quality work.
  • Possesses a high degree of trustworthiness and ethical behavior of an individual with consideration for the knowledge one has of the impact and consequences when deciding or taking action.
  • Demonstrates a level of credibility and concern that one be perceived as responsible, reliable, and trustworthy.
  • Ability to ensure that one's own and other's work and information are complete and accurate. The ability to carefully prepare for meetings and presentations. The ability to follow up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.

  • Ability to focus personal efforts on achieving results consistent with the organization's objectives.

Pay Range:  $36 -45/ hr. 
This position will consider remote candidates in the following states: 
AZ, CA (outside Los Angeles), CO, FL, GA, ID, IN, MA, MD, ME, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA
