As a Compensation Program Manager, you will help lead mid-year and year-end compensation planning cycles for multiple parts of the business, ensuring smooth execution and thoughtful investment of salary increases and equity awards across our global workforce.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Compensation Programs and Operations, you’ll partner with teammates and cross-functional stakeholders to lead the program management, testing, and implementation of global compensation programs and help scale the compensation team’s frameworks, tools and practices as the company continues to grow. At Databricks, we don't believe compensation is just a number, it's a tool to recognize that every employee is an owner and a part of our success. We are looking for a team member with a solid foundation and history of success in doing just that!

The impact you will have:

  • Deliver global compensation planning cycles by leading the design, testing, and implementation in Pave, ensuring data integrity across all compensation systems, and supporting communication, education, and change management efforts to help Databricks invest effectively in its global workforce
  • Support pay equity analysis using Syndio’s platform to guide data-driven compensation decisions and advance equitable pay practices
  • Manage and analyze complex datasets to generate clear, data-driven compensation insights that inform decision-making, increase efficiency, and enable scalable growth
  • Contribute to strategic compensation projects, key initiatives and the development of scalable frameworks while partnering with key stakeholders such as IT People Systems, HR People Partners, People Ops, Talent Management, and Talent Acquisition
  • Collaborate with IT People Systems to ensure Workday compensation data, configuration, and reports are accurate, scalable, and efficient
  • Lead technology reviews and system enhancements for the compensation team to ensure tools, processes, and compensation programs scale effectively with the business, including managing change and driving smooth implementation

What we look for:

  • 5-8 years of experience managing compensation planning cycles as well as large, cross-functional compensation projects
  • Strong compensation and analytical background that shows proven success as a thoughtful partner with attention to detail
  • Strong competency in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, and information clearly through excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced data analysis and problem-solving skills (i.e. spreadsheets, databases) and an ability to use data to support informed decision-making
  • Experience with Workday as a system of record for compensation
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and techniques
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where foundational frameworks are still being developed  and priorities can shift quickly
  • Skilled at leading and influencing stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with others on the team
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
