MERIT is a minimalist beauty brand that makes impossible to mess up products for a multi-generational community. Designed by makeup consumers — not artists — MERIT was created as the antidote to the overwhelming world of beauty. We simplify what it takes to get ready by creating only well-edited essentials that help you do more with less. With minimalism at its core, MERIT remains intentional in the products it creates, spending years perfecting every detail to ensure it’s not just another product, but one that you can live with for years to come.

The Community Coordinator will be a key team member in executing the gifted creator program, working in close partnership with a fellow Coordinator to share responsibilities across all major areas. This role supports new product launches, evergreen programming, and review campaigns across Sephora.com and DTC by identifying and managing relationships with creators. The ideal candidate possesses keen attention to detail, strong organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the other Coordinator to launch and manage campaigns via Grin to support new product launches and evergreen initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Manager to brainstorm campaign concepts and strategies
  • Proactively source new partners for gifted campaigns alongside the other Coordinator
  • Work together to import gifted creators into campaigns on Tribe Dynamics
  • Share responsibility for end-to-end communication with creators
  • Support UGC partnerships with the Social team; responsibilities such as outreach, negotiations, contracting, and briefing.
  • Collaborate with the Community Manager on monthly budget tracking and performance targets (sourcing, placements, order goals, etc.)
  • Co-own the process for review campaigns, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are engaged
  • Align weekly on lever incentives with Manager; Coordinators alternate or share execution as needed
  • Help train and support a group of Influencer interns
  • Share lead responsibilities for in-office send outs with support from the intern team
  • Maintain and update PR gifting lists in collaboration with the other Coordinator
  • Co-manage Tribe Dynamics community management and campaign tracking
  • Support execution of paid content partnerships, in coordination with the team

Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years experience in the influencer marketing in beauty or fashion industries
  • Able to work independently and to effectively problem solve
  • Experience working in a start-up environment, with the ability to manage and collaborate in a fast-paced environment
  • Concise verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively and communicate productively with a wide range of people internally and externally
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Be proactive and flexible/nimble with shifting priorities based on team needs; anticipate potential problems and take independent action as appropriate using good judgment and discretion
  • Demonstrated experience with creator outreach and effective time management skills
  • Interest in beauty industry, influencer marketing and up-to-date on current social media trends

MERIT is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package in addition to salary compensation. The annual salary for this role is $70,000.00 per year, in addition to bonus potential, stock options, a 401(k) match, health benefits, paid time off and more.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
