About the Team:

The Brand & Communications team drives all aspects of brand identity, media relations, digital media, and content strategy, focusing on both external impact and internal alignment. Our mission is to position the company as a trusted industry leader and household name, shaping the narrative around our bold vision and groundbreaking milestones. By crafting compelling stories and innovative campaigns, we energize and inspire stakeholders, fueling momentum that drives Relativity’s mission forward.

About the Role:

The Communications Manager will help shape and execute communications strategies that strengthen the company's reputation, engage key audiences, and communicate our mission, technology, and progress. As we approach Terran R's first launch, we're entering one of the most pivotal and exciting stretches in our company's history, and we're looking for someone who wants to be right in the middle of it.
This role is built for a true generalist: someone energized by variety, eager to roll up their sleeves, and excited to learn by doing. One moment you might be drafting a press statement, the next you're sitting in on an engineering review to understand a new milestone, and the next you're pulling together the weekly internal newsletter. You'll work cross-functionally with teams across the company, including hardware and software engineering, manufacturing, and corporate functions like Legal and People, giving you a front-row seat to how the company builds, grows, and tells its story at a defining moment.
In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop and execute communications plans spanning major milestones (test campaigns, launches, partnerships), including real-time social posting, webcast support, media management, and crisis/anomaly rapid-response communications.
  • Write and edit press releases, talking points, blog and social content, and FAQs, and lead media relations: drafting statements, prepping spokespeople, and managing press inquiries and relationships.
  • Partner with technical teams to translate complex engineering work into clear, compelling narratives for internal and external audiences.
  • Track, analyze, and report on communications effectiveness to refine strategy over time, and maintain brand and editorial consistency across internal and external deliverables.
  • Project manage an editorial calendar, manage the speaking engagement calendar, and draft awards submissions to raise the company's profile.
  • Draft recurring internal content, including a weekly internal newsletter and digital signage, and support community engagement, educational outreach, and STEM-related initiatives.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field, and 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, PR, journalism, or a related discipline.
  • Bias for action and comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities can shift quickly.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with technical experts, cross-functional teams, and journalists alike.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience in hardware and/or software-driven technical organizations.
  • Experience in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, or defense.
  • Experience supporting a company through major public milestones.
  • Experience with event planning and/or project management, particularly in fast-moving, cross-functional environments.
  • Basic photo or video editing skills for content and social media use.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
