Position Description:

FlexGen is currently looking for a Communications Director to play a pivotal role in shaping and executing FlexGen’s communication strategy to build brand awareness, foster positive public relations, attract investment, and support business growth. This role will be responsible for managing internal and external communications, handling media relations, developing engaging content, and navigating the complexities of the market. 


Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that outlines objectives, target audiences, key messages, timelines, and metrics to support FlexGen’s mission and business goals
  • Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson to draft and distribute press releases, statements, speeches, articles, and other PR materials; manage media inquiries and shape narratives
  • Oversee the development of engaging content for various platforms, including websites, social media, blogs, videos, and marketing materials, ensuring all content aligns with FlexGen’s brand voice, messaging guidelines, and strategic priorities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees, policymakers, industry groups, and the public
  • Improve internal communications and develop content related to thought leadership to enhance cross-functional collaboration and message consistency within the organization

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or media relations, including leadership roles
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful communication strategies; experience working in or with the energy sector, particularly with startups or renewable energy companies preferred
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong media relations skills and a deep understanding of the media landscape
  • Digital marketing expertise, including social media, SEO, and content marketing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with the ability to adapt to change and handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Understanding of industry trends and best practices in the renewables space
  • Interest in FlexGen’s mission and a commitment to clean energy
  • Ability to work effectively with various FlexGen teams (marketing, product, Business Development, engineering, legal, etc.), and leverage analytics to track and measure the effectiveness of communication strategies
