We collaborate closely with several teams, including Ads, Finance, Product, Privacy, Engineering, and Devices.

About the Job

We are seeking a business-oriented Commercial Counsel Attorney with 5+ years of experience negotiating advertising and ad tech agreements to join our expanding team. The position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated advertising transactions, to shape how a high-growth consumer business approaches ad tech, and to learn alongside a collaborative legal team. You will report to the Deputy General Counsel for Commercial, Litigation & IP, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Ads, Finance, Product, Privacy, Engineering, and Marketing.

For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $163,000 to $237,500 USD. We take into consideration an individual's background, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience in determining final salary. Base pay may also vary based on geographic location, with US work locations falling into one of three geographic tiers.

Total compensation is inclusive of equity compensation in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits.

What You’ll Do
  • Draft, review, and negotiate supply-side agreements, including publisher agreements and related platform and partner terms.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate demand-side agreements, including DSP agreements and advertising insertion orders (IOs) with advertisers, agencies, and other ad partners, along with the master terms that govern them.

  • Negotiate data processing agreements (DPAs) and privacy and data use terms in advertising transactions, working within frameworks such as CCPA and GDPR.

  • Partner with Privacy, Product, and Engineering to make sure advertising deal terms match how our products and data practices work.
  • Track developments in advertising and privacy law and industry standards (including IAB terms), and apply them to contract strategy and client counseling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align legal recommendations with business objectives while protecting Life360 and our members.
What We’re Looking For
  • J.D. from an accredited US law school and membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house at an advertising, ad tech, media, or technology company, with a strong focus on negotiating digital advertising agreements.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
