A Lot About You 

We’re looking for an experienced wellness editor to pitch and write content in the wellness commerce space. Specifically, this position must have subject matter expertise in nutrition, holding credentials as a registered dietitian. This role will pitch and write product reviews, comparison pieces, best lists and news- and study-focused awareness pieces within the wellness category. Wellness topics include, but are not limited to: food/diets, supplements, meal kits, exercise, sleep, mental health, workplace wellness, wellness travel and outdoor activities.

You will work with freelancers, when appropriate, to assign and edit stories within specific wellness categories.

The ideal candidate will have health writing and editing experience with a proven track record of creating successful performance marketing content and taking it through the lifecycle from conception to publishing to updating, as needed. You’ll have a deep understanding of SEO, along with industry trends and be passionate about crafting creative and engaging content that builds trust. 

This role will also be asked to update and improve upon older content within the wellness category to ensure it meets the most recent Yahoo editorial standards. You must be comfortable identifying and utilizing expert resources, sourcing products, performing hands-on product testing and writing and updating content across a broad range of wellness topics. You’re extremely detail-oriented and are able to follow and iterate on a health-specific vetting process.

This role is either fully remote or can opt to work at one of our Yahoo offices across the US. 

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, write and produce well-researched and sourced wellness-focused articles in a timely manner (primary writing focus will be supplements, food/diet and other nutrition content)

  • Assist with assigned nutrition content updates to ensure all top-performing articles remain current and best in class

  • Assist with pitching and writing wellness content for tentpole events

  • Assist with pitching and writing timely and news-focused public health articles with a wellness angle

  • Assist with assigning and editing content from freelancers on specific wellness topics (sleep, exercise, workplace wellness), where appropriate 

  • Create balanced editorial experiences that serve and respect our users

  • Utilize SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines and improve content performance.

  • Adhere to Yahoo's style and voice

  • Help manage product sourcing and testing for wellness content

Requirements:

  • Subject matter expertise (education and related credentials) as a registered dietitian

  • 5+ years experience in writing wellness-focused content (supplements, meal kits, diets/food, exercise, sleep, wellness travel, workplace wellness, outdoor activities, etc.) 

  • 2+ years experience editing wellness-focused content (preference for nutrition content)

  • 2+ years experience writing and editing commerce content

  • Must be based in the United States

  • Exceptional copywriting and editing skills

  • Strong editorial judgment, knowledge of standards & style

  • A strong conversational writer/editor

  • Comfortable working within a CMS to build and update content

  • Willingness to work unconventional schedules, including some weekends and holidays around major tentpoles

  • A self-starter who is always looking for ways to improve with a willingness to learn, with or without guidance 

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, goal-driven team environment

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and an aptitude for attention to detail

  • Team-player mindset and willingness to pitch in on any project to help get the job done

  • Obsessed with reader experience, always looking to inform and engage our readers

  • Passion for keeping up with health and wellness trends and cutting-edge products and science

The compensation for this position ranges from $72,750.00 - $151,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
