The Core Platform team builds industry leading next generation cloud platforms, services and tools that underpin our products. We build and maintain systems at scale and ensure that Yahoo is always able to serve its hundreds of millions of users and billions of daily pageviews. Using a combination of open source software and internal tools across multiple cloud providers, we engineer automated solutions for base docker containers, Ingress routing, Identity management, service mesh, configuration templates, orchestration, monitoring and for deployment of containerized applications at scale. We promote and enable developer self-sufficiency and DevOps ownership models. 

A Lot About You

You are a talented Cloud Developer who is passionate about velocity, developer productivity and product quality. You are an aggressive troubleshooter who can multitask on problems of varying difficulty, priority and time-sensitivity and get things done. You are smart, self-driven, and spend time trying to figure out how something works, not stopping with just knowing that it does. You like to relentlessly automate everything and anything at scale. 

You Will 

• Develop and enhance Terraform modules to standardize cloud features in the Yahoo environment

• Configure and automate Helm deployments for services hosted in Kubernetes

• Diagnose, resolve and prevent issues from happening in production application infrastructure, using your critical knowledge of Kubernetes, UNIX tools, and cloud technologies

• Implement, and maintain monitoring to provide complete transparency to application and system state, history, and trends

• Have a passion for solving difficult technical problems, from the network to the user experience

• Write clear and concise engineering documentation for internal users

Qualifications

• 3+ years with BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent 

• Experience working with AWS or GCP public cloud

• Strong knowledge of cloud fundamentals to include automation, deployments, monitoring, networking, and access management

• Expertise in working with container deployment and orchestration technologies at scale, preferably Kubernetes

• Expertise in any one of the scripting languages

• Experience working with Terraform

• Expert programming experience in Go

• Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, identifying anomalous system behavior, and determining the root cause of incidents in cloud

• Knowledge of Kubernetes, helm, Docker, Istio and Go preferred

• Knowledge of IP networking, DNS, load balancing and CDNs preferred

• Experience with monitoring, alerting and deployment preferred

The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 - $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
