Clinical Educator – Critical Care (ICU/ED)Job Summary

Provides education leadership across ICU and Emergency Department services. Responsible for structured orientation, routine in-services, mock codes, advanced resuscitation training, competency validation, and annual critical care skills fairs to ensure readiness for high-acuity care.

Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Develop and oversee ICU and ED orientation pathways.
  • Participate in Hospital-wide new employee orientation
  • Conduct routine in-services aligned with sepsis, stroke, STEMI, and trauma protocols.
  • Lead mock codes including Code Blue, Rapid Response, Stroke, and Massive Transfusion Protocol drills.
  • Oversee annual competency validation and critical care skills fairs.
  • Provide advanced training in ventilator management, titratable drips, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Monitor compliance with sepsis bundles and door-to-needle benchmarks.
  • Support interdisciplinary performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain education records and accreditation documentation.
Financial Stewardship
  • Reduce ICU LOS through early recognition and escalation training.
  • Improve ED throughput and protocol adherence.
  • Reduce hospital-acquired conditions impacting reimbursement.
Minimum Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.

Preferred Education

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master’s degree in related healthcare discipline preferred.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of specialty clinical experience required. Prior experience in education, precepting, simulation training, or clinical leadership preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

Current California RN License required. BLS and ACLS required. CCRN preferred and required within 6 months of hire.

Work Environment

Must be able to work in a union environment and support compliance, safety, and service excellence initiatives.
