Your Role  

As a market-facing client relationship, project delivery, and thought leader in the Digital & Experience Design practice, you will work closely with the local DXD team and Global Leadership team to identify new opportunities to develop, manage, and deliver integrated (digital and physical), transformational multi-disciplinary projects for our clients. You will work with global and local leadership teams to assess opportunities and develop clear and concise strategies and digital and experiential solutions for these strategic projects and programs. You will be a thought leader in the market, and will be partnering with clients, partners and vendors to meet needs, expand business, and bring our best work to the market.

The Client Relationship Director, Digital & Experience Design, will engage with internal and client stakeholders both locally and globally to craft strategies around how to grow our key client accounts by introducing digitally and experientially oriented solutions for the built environment. This person will have extensive experience building client relationships in the sector and will have a deep understanding of large-scale, permanent interactive experiences in physical space.   

This person will work across all of Gensler’s diverse range of markets and practice areas including entertainment, tech, hospitality, retail, workplace, education, culture, aviation, sports, and more. They will utilize their talent in business and client relationship development to identify opportunity areas while working closely with architecture, interiors and DXD global and regional leadership teams who will be collaborating on the proposals and approaches.  This role will also lead the design delivery efforts along with dedicated project teams for those projects. 

What You Will Do

  • Grow the Digital & Experience Design practices through expanding existing client relationships and developing new lines of work.  

  • Collaborate with global and regional DXD leadership, Practice Area Leaders, and other account leads to define appropriate ways of working, processes, deliverables, client service strategies, staffing models and proposals/pitches. 

  • Craft and deliver compelling client presentations and proposals. 

  • Leverage your current network and relationships to identify new business opportunities. 

  • Envision and sell high-stakes work, emboldening clients to take action. 

  • Participate in external professional organizations, meet with clients, brokers and other influencers to identify new business opportunities and promote the Digital Experience Design Practice Area. 

  • Establish success metrics with clear actions, outcomes, revenue forecasts and growth targets. 

  • Take a proactive role in building the future of the business, publishing thought pieces, speaking at events, and generally promoting our ideas. 

  • Identify innovative solutions that resolve complex technical and design challenges across the physical and digital landscapes. 

  • Partner with Design and Production teams in the delivery of innovative and experiential work that leads the industry.

  • Ensure projects and internal teams are set up for success (in collaboration with Project Manager and Discipline Leads) 

Your Qualifications 

  • 15+ years’ professional experience including proven track record of building and managing client relationships in the digital and/or experiential solutions market. 

  • Proven thought leadership in innovation for design, technology and architecture. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills. 

  • Proven track record of success in maintaining and growing client relationships. 

  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents. 

  • Strong, persuasive communicator with excellent verbal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex design concepts to clients. 

  • Proven ability to build a book of business and to deliver on large-scale projects. 

  • Connected and well-regarded within the community and active in industry organizations. 

  • Adept at storytelling, engaging as a communicator and inspiring with an energetic personality.
