About the role

Responsible for providing support to the claims team. Assists with the day-to-day management of claims-related tasks, ensuring efficient processing, accurate record-keeping, and smooth communication between internal teams and claimants. Maintains operational efficiency within the claims department.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the claims process by reconciling reports and completing tasks to ensure accurate and efficient handling of claims. This involves entering and updating claim records and maintaining accurate documentation. Specific tasks would include, but not necessarily limited to, payment of invoices, medical consulting/team scheduling, check printing balancing, FICA/Tax auditing and reporting, retrieving overpayments, weekly claim assignment grids, waiver or premium reconciliation, SIU support, child support checks, Stop payment and JV processing.

  • Handles overflow calls and emails by answering customer questions, sending requested forms and correspondence.

  • Support management team with development of new letters/forms, reviewing and entering data utilized for ICFR testing, assist in maintaining electronic claim files, assisting in monitoring claim status/deadlines and project related support.

  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 1-2 years of insurance experience.

  • Ability to navigate multiple systems for purpose of supporting claim adjudication process.

  • Ability to review complex reports and data to troubleshoot and correct system or process errors.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Proficient and accurate data entry input skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to respond to shifts in direction.

  • Ability to adapt and comprehend advancements in technology.

  • Ability to work flexible hours (up to 6 p.m. central) to support customer requirements.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred:

  • Administrative support or health/life claims related insurance experience of 1-2 years.

  • Previous customer service experience in a call center environment.

  • Associate, BA or BS Degree in business or insurance related field.

  • Familiarity with claim management software or databases.

The compensation range for this role is (based on the corporate location in Lake Forest, Illinois):

$24.38 - $35.23 per hour

The final salary offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus.
