The Chief of Staff to the Founder is a senior-level, strategic partner to the Founder & CEO. The Chief of Staff ensures the Founder’s goals are achieved efficiently and his time and energy are fully protected for high-impact work.
This role serves as the primary interface between the Founder and the external/internal world, managing executive communications, synchronizing business and personal commitments, and representing the Founder with senior leaders, partners, investors, and elite organizations.
The Chief of Staff acts as a trusted advisor, gatekeeper, and integrator, keeping the Founder’s strategic priorities on track across engineering, partnerships, investors, and personal/social capital networks.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning & Liaison- Align initiatives with the Founder's vision, coordinating cross-departmental efforts, and tracking progress on key priorities.
- Represent the Founder in communications with direct reports (employees and contractors), investors, senior partners, boards, and research/academic institutions.
- Manage follow-ups and ensure accountability across leadership and partners.
- Act as a troubleshooter, addressing operational bottlenecks, and facilitating decision-making.
- Filter inbound communications, distilling information for the Founder.
- Present only high-priority opportunities/issues requiring direct input, with structured recommendations.
- Oversee projects or initiatives, often those requiring high-level coordination across functions.
- Track progress on key strategic commitments, ensuring accountability.
- Manage a unified master calendar that merges personal, business, and social commitments.
- Pre-filter meeting and event requests based on strategic value and relevance.
- Schedule regular leadership syncs and strategy sessions.
- Oversee all logistics for travel, conferences, board meetings, and private events.
- Prepare briefing packets for every engagement — attendee bios, objectives, and talking points.
- Ensure seamless execution so the Founder arrives prepared and focused.
- Synchronize the Founder’s engineering, operational, investment, and personal priorities so they reinforce rather than compete.
- Ensure continuity across professional, personal, and social networks.
- Bachelor's degree in pre-law, business, public policy, engineering, or technical field requiring structured problem solving.
- Master's degree in a technical or strategic discipline is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, high-tech, or related industries requiring strategic execution.
- Proven experience supporting or working closely with C-suite leaders, investors, or government officials.
- Demonstrated success owning and managing projects from start to finish.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to draft high-level correspondence.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- High situational awareness; quick study with discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to operate independently, anticipate needs, and make decisions under pressure.
- Flexibility for irregular hours and fast-changing priorities.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Eligible and willingness to obtain Top Secret security clearance if required.
