Success looks like clear boundaries, reliable migration paths, strong security and observability, and an architecture that lets teams ship faster with confidence.
Who you are
- 10-15 years building and evolving large-scale systems on modern stacks
- Strong experience with several languages and application frameworks; comfortable shaping backend contracts and services
- Deep database design with SQL Server; exposure to NoSQL and event streaming is a plus
- Proven in platform modernization: decomposing legacy systems, defining migration paths, and delivering incrementally with zero/low downtime
- Hands-on performance, scalability, security, and cost optimization in cloud environments (Azure/AWS), including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
- Strong grasp of software design patterns, domain-driven design, and API/versioning strategy (REST/gRPC; backward compatibility)
- Expert-level front-end experience (React + ecosystem) and patterns for shared UI components/design systems that unify products
- Experience integrating acquisitions: data/model reconciliation, identity/SSO (SAML/OIDC/SCIM), authorization, and cross-product navigation for a seamless UX
- Skilled in data integration and migration (ETL/CDC), observability (metrics, logs, tracing), and error budgets/SLOs
- Effective communicator and collaborator with Product, Security, and GTM; able to mentor engineers and lead cross-team delivery
- Bias to simplicity: remove tech debt, standardize platforms, and document decision records (ADRs) and guardrails
What you'll do
- Own and execute the modernization roadmap: turn the existing blueprint into phased migration plans with low/zero-downtime rollouts and clear milestones/SLOs.
- Integrate acquired products into a unified platform and UX by aligning data models/APIs, standardizing identity/SSO, and rationalizing services.
- Establish architectural guardrails (domain boundaries, API/versioning, deprecation strategy) and create clear "golden paths."
- Elevate operability with end-to-end observability, performance/capacity planning, and incident-ready runbooks guided by error budgets.
- Partner with Product and Platform/DevOps to sequence work, manage risk, and speed delivery through CI/CD and automated regression (shorter code freeze).
