The Role
The Vehicle Chemical Regulatory Compliance (VCRC) team ensures chemical compliance for production and service parts, including fluids like oils, greases, antifreeze, adhesives, and cleaning chemicals. Based at GM's Global Technical Center in Warren, MI, this hybrid role requires in-office work Tuesday-Thursday, with occasional travel to Milford or Pontiac.
We collaborate with internal teams-Materials, Design, Service Release Engineering, Sustainability, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Labs, Legal, and Public Policy-and engage with industry groups such as Automotive Innovators, ACEA, USCAR, and AIAG. This position suits individuals passionate about chemicals, legislation, and sustainability, offering involvement from vehicle design through lifecycle support.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and customs regulations for aftersales fluids and parts marking.
- Monitor North American regulations for consumer and workplace products.
- Train and advise stakeholders on compliance requirements.
- Maintain systems tracking product changes and regulatory updates.
- Verify compliance by:
- Obtaining ingredient disclosures
- Checking for banned substances and import/export restrictions
- Managing VOC limits and product registrations
- Preparing regulatory reports
- Classifying hazards and ensuring proper labeling
- Supporting SDS development and distribution
- Conduct audits and implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with legal/public policy teams on compliance issues.
- Support global parts marking requirements and process improvements.
- Monitor global regulations and analyze compliance data.
- Limited travel for training and compliance activities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's in engineering, chemistry, toxicology, or related field
- 5 years in product safety and environmental regulations (GHS, OSHA, WHMIS, TSCA, REACH, etc.).
- Familiarity with regulatory tools (IMDS, ProECoMs, GRMS2, Sphera) and MS Office.
- Strong initiative, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience managing compliance for chemicals and batteries.
- Hazard classification expertise.
- Fluency in French and Spanish.
- Supervisory experience.
