As the Chief Financial Officer at vCluster Labs, you aren't just managing the books; you are architecting the financial infrastructure for the company's next stage of growth. You will own our financial strategy end to end, from FP&A and fundraising to Board reporting, while staying hands-on enough to build the models yourself. As vCluster's platform scales into AI infrastructure and multi-cloud tenancy, you'll be the financial backbone that lets the company grow with confidence. This is a chance to build a finance function from a position of real ownership, not inherit one.

As Chief Financial Officer, your role will include:

Financial Strategy & Leadership: Build and lead vCluster Labs' finance and accounting function, owning the company's financial operating system end to end. You will set the financial strategy that underpins our path to sustainable, capital-efficient growth.

Hands-On FP&A and Modeling: Own FP&A directly, not through a team. You will build and maintain the forecasts, financial models, and planning process yourself, ensuring clear success criteria and rigorous, defensible numbers.

Accounting & Compliance Oversight: Own the accuracy of our financial reporting, guiding the company through audits, tax compliance, and month-end close. You may bring on one additional hire to support the accounting function, but the financial narrative and controls stay under your direct ownership.

Fundraising & Investor Relations: Serve as the CEO's key partner during fundraising, leading diligence prep and the financial narrative that gets deals done. You will build the relationships and materials that carry us through future rounds.

Executive & Board Partnership: Act as the primary financial escalation point for the executive team and engage directly with the Board of Directors, translating financial constraints into a plan the business can execute against.

Cross-Functional Influence: Serve as the financial voice inside Product and Sales conversations, using unit economics and efficiency metrics to shape the roadmap and go to market decisions. You can write your own SQL against the data warehouse when you need an answer fast.

This role could be a fit for you if you bring:

Deep Financial Expertise: You have strong technical depth in corporate finance, accounting (GAAP), and SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC), and you can hold your own in a complex financial conversation with anyone in the building.

Executive-Level Leadership: You have operated at CFO or VP Finance level in a high-growth startup or SaaS company, and you know how to build a finance function's culture of transparency and fiscal responsibility from the top.

Fundraising Track Record: You have led or been deeply embedded in fundraising rounds, with a track record of managing diligence and building investor relationships that hold up under pressure.

A True Operator Mindset: You are senior enough to set strategy and still willing to build the model yourself. FP&A ownership does not get delegated on your watch, even as you grow the broader team.

Communication Skills: You can translate complex financial concepts for engineers, VCs, and the C-suite alike, adjusting the altitude of the conversation to the audience.

Bonus points for:

CPA or CFA Designation: A CPA or CFA adds credibility to the financial narrative you bring to the Board and investors.

International Subsidiary Experience: Experience managing finance for a company with an international subsidiary structure.

Financial Systems Implementation: Experience selecting, implementing, and managing financial systems as a company scales.

Distributed Team Experience: Previous experience partnering with widespread, remote-first teams.

About vCluster Labs

We're the #1 platform for AI infrastructure, trusted by the world's fastest-growing AI cloud builders. We're a venture-backed startup that's raised over $28M from top-tier investors including Khosla Ventures (first investor in OpenAI, GitLab, Stripe, and DoorDash), and we're in a hyper-growth phase looking for motivated people to join our team. Our headquarters are in San Francisco (Salesforce Tower), but our team is distributed around the globe with a remote-first culture.

We give AI Cloud providers and AI factories a hyperscaler-like experience on their own GPU infrastructure. Our platform runs the full stack an operator needs, from bare metal provisioning and node lifecycle management up through managed Kubernetes, Slurm, Ray, and inference clusters, so they can turn raw GPUs into cluster products they can sell in days instead of spending 12+ months building it themselves. Today we power over 100,000 GPUs and 1 million CPUs across 50+ AI clouds and Fortune 500 companies, backed by a team of 40+ infrastructure engineers who build alongside our customers rather than just shipping them software.

We're the company behind vCluster, the open source technology for tenant isolation on Kubernetes, with 11,000+ GitHub stars and 40M+ tenant clusters created since 2021. Open source is part of our DNA. At KubeCon North America 2025, we launched our Infrastructure Tenancy Platform for AI, a Kubernetes-native framework built for running AI, ML, and GPU-intensive workloads anywhere, with an NVIDIA-validated reference architecture for DGX systems.

Benefits

We offer the following benefits:

  • Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity.

  • Platinum-Level Insurance: Health, dental, vision, and life Insurance, including plans for you and eligible dependents (benefits vary depending on country).

  • Flexible Working Schedule:  You have a doctor’s appointment or need to head to the supermarket to get groceries at 2pm? We won’t have an issue with that. To us, results matter more than clocking in and out at the same time every day.

  • Workplace Flexibility:  We’re very flexible about where you work. We know things can change in life and we’re happy to adjust the work environment for you along the way.

Culture & Values

At vCluster Labs, we value and stand for:

  1. Make it Happen: We have a relentless bias for action and the grit to push through obstacles. We do whatever it takes to figure it out, put in the work, and ruthlessly prioritize the actions that drive measurable impact for the business.

  2. Own the Outcome: We understand that our responsibility doesn't end when a task is checked off; it ends when the value is delivered. We connect our daily individual actions to the broader success of the company and our customers.

  3. Create Wow: We measure success by the experience we generate, both inside and outside the company. For our customers, this means impressive speed and intuitive experiences. For our team, this means going the extra mile to support one another and to continuously drive each other to new heights.

  4. Open Source, Open Mind: We are actively contributing to and maintaining open-source projects. Internally, we foster meritocracy — the strongest ideas win, no matter who or where they come from.

  5. Build Tomorrow’s Standards, Intentionally: We don't just ship software; we define the state-of-the-art of tomorrow. We are fearless in tearing down old approaches to build something better, but we are disciplined in how we do it because we know our users rely on our technology to run mission-critical infrastructure platforms.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
