The Category Manager directly supports the Director of Category Development in creating consumer- and customer-focused strategies, tactics, and category-based solutions. This individual will conduct high-quality analyses and synthesize multiple data sources to generate insights and actionable recommendations, while using strong communication and influencing skills to drive execution across national large-format customers.
The candidate must demonstrate sound business judgment, excellent communication skills, and experience in the following areas: assortment planning, negotiation, pricing strategy, online product presentation, sales, and building productive relationships.
Job DescriptionCATEGORY DEVELOPMENT
Act as a strategic category advisor to retail partners, influencing decisions that drive category and Red Bull growth
Own and deliver category strategies across assortment, merchandising, pricing, and promotions in both in-store and eCommerce environments
Synthesize multiple data sources into clear, insight-led narratives that drive action with internal and external stakeholders
Identify and prioritize growth opportunities across distribution, assortment, shelving, and incrementality, translating insights into execution
Lead customer-facing conversations, confidently presenting recommendations and influencing outcomes
Partner cross-functionally to align category strategies with broader commercial objectives and performance goals
Drive execution of category initiatives, measuring impact and continuously optimizing based on results
CATEGORY MANAGEMENT
Serve as a subject matter expert on the Energy category, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape
Leverage syndicated, POS/loyalty, and panel data to develop fact-based, customer-relevant category recommendations
Lead development and delivery of category reviews, strategies, and joint business planning inputs with retailers
Translate performance data into clear actions that drive incremental sales, share, and category growth
Own planogram strategy and collaborate with retailers to ensure best-in-class in-store execution
ANALYSIS
Lead analysis of new items, innovation, and product mix to assess performance and inform future strategy
Evaluate merchandising and promotional effectiveness, identifying opportunities to optimize ROI
Build and maintain performance tracking tools and scorecards that drive accountability and decision-making
Deliver high-impact, ad hoc analyses and insights to support business priorities
Continuously evolve analytical approaches by leveraging new tools, data sources, and category management best practices
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field preferred
3–5 years of experience in CPG, retail, or syndicated data with a focus on category management, sales, analytics, or shopper insights
Strong experience leveraging syndicated (e.g., Nielsen, Circana), POS/loyalty (e.g., 84.51, dunnhumby), and panel data to drive sales and share growth
Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and compelling stories
Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships with retail customers and cross-functional teams
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Strong communication and presentation skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Working knowledge of retail merchandising and in-store execution
Preferred Qualifications:
CPCM certification and/or Master’s degree
Experience in sales or analytical sales support, including customer-facing engagement
Experience working with third-party agencies (brokers, data/insight providers)
Beverage/DSD experience
Experience with analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Alteryx, ProSpace)
Additional InformationThis position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa. The base salary range for this position is $92,000 - 138,000 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
