About the Position:
The Business Services Representative {BSR} is responsible for identifying, creating, and cultivating employment opportunities for Amity students by establishing relationships with local businesses and organizations. The Business Service Representative serves as the primary liaison between Amity’s workforce development programs and local employers. The BSR builds and maintains relationships with businesses, identifies workforce needs, and connects employers with Amity students and available workforce services. This role supports employer engagement and job placement outcomes.
What You Will Do:
- Conduct outreach to employers to promote workforce development services, including recruitment assistance, job matching, hiring events, and training programs
- Conduct regular employer engagement meetings, site visits, and follow-up communications
- Provide coaching on job interview techniques and professional etiquette
- Conduct job readiness workshops and career development seminars
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local employers and industry contacts
- Assist participants with applying for full-time employment when they conclude paid work experience.
- Develop a network of potential employers and job openings.
- Educate employers on the benefits of hiring job seekers, particularly those from underrepresented or marginalized groups
- Maintain an up-to-date database of employers and job openings
- Responsible for data entry using Apricot System for all participants through all phases of the program.
- Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies as necessary.
- Stay updated on labor market trends and high-demand occupations
- Maintain collaborative relationships by effective communication with Program Coordinators, ES Department Faculty, CBOs, and participants.
- Maintain strong relationships with employers and partners through consistent communication and collaboration.
- Maintain comprehensive case records and accurate statistical information for students and services
- Advocate for job seekers within the community and on behalf of the organization
- Maintain accurate records of job placements, 12-month retention, employer contacts, and other related data
- Attending workshops, meetings, and training as requested by supervisor.
- Attends and represents the department/program at community resource and job fairs; engages with employers, partners, and potential participants to build relationships and support outreach efforts
- Hosts and manages informational tables to promote program services and local job fairs and resources fairs
- Coordinate employer roundtables to gather feedback, discuss workforce needs, and strengthen job pathways for justice-impacted students.
- Capture and share insights from roundtables and advisory meetings to guide program improvements and employment strategies.
- Supports the planning and coordination of Amity-hosted job fairs and partner orientations for students onsite
- Organize and participate in partner advisory meetings to ensure program alignment with industry expectations.
- May serve as Community Advocate role in addition to job as requested by community leadership.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance as an essential job function.
What You Will Bring:
- Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of long-term incarceration; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of incarceration.
- Recognition of the importance of individual differences created by personalities, cultures, lifestyles, social networks, and other factors that influence behavior.
- Operational knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks with multiple deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the community and within the organization.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.
- Participate in community-building activities as appropriate to the position.
- Protect program participants' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
- As a condition of employment with Amity, a job offer will not be binding upon Amity until and unless Amity and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (“CDCR”) obtain satisfactory results from its investigation into your background
