Pinterest is also delving into AI for content creation and data analysis. As a business intelligence analyst on the Knowledge Curation team, you’ll work on projects related to taxonomy building and data analysis and curation using LLMs that will make measurably positive impacts on hundreds of millions of users with improved machine learning modeling and featurization breakthroughs on almost all Pinterest product surfaces (Discovery, Shopping, Growth, Ads, etc).
What you'll do:
- Help curate, annotate, and improve datasets and evaluation metrics that support content discovery, search/recommendations, shopping, and international features.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and optimize prompts for LLM-assisted classification and language understanding.
- Contribute to updates and improvements in internal annotation guidelines, classification schemes, and taxonomy processes.
- Communicate findings and changes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive shared understanding and business decisions.
- Support the globalization, improvement, and evaluation of taxonomies and content systems.
What we're looking for:
- 1+ year experience working with large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering or tuning.
- Practical experience curating labeled datasets, performing data analysis or QA on labeled or annotated data, and/or contributing to classification systems.
- Comfortable with beginner SQL and experienced in spreadsheets (using formulas for analysis, tracking, and reporting).
- Experience or strong interest in at least one of: relevance ranking, shopping/e-commerce, or globalization/international product development.
- Familiarity with or exposure to taxonomy or classification systems.
- Effective at communicating with and synthesizing input from cross-functional partners (e.g., ML engineers, product, analysts).
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail with demonstrated follow-through.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Linguistics, or equivalent experience.
- Additional language skills such as Japanese are a plus.
In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
