YOUR CHALLENGE:

  • Develop and execute a proactive regional business-development strategy focused on opening new accounts, expanding market presence, and creating sustainable growth.
  • Identify facilities and customer groups with untapped potential, including refineries, petrochemical facilities, chemical plants, and other process-industry end users.
  • Build relationships with I&C, reliability, maintenance, engineering, operations, and procurement personnel to understand customer needs, establish champions, and reach key decision-makers.
  • Use control-valve knowledge and an understanding of industrial applications to identify customer needs and develop opportunities related to maintenance, turnarounds, replacement, and new applications—often before a formal RFQ is issued. Where customer needs align, recognize complementary pressure-relief opportunities and connect customers with Curtiss-Wright’s broader valve capabilities.
  • Work closely with Regional Sales Managers, existing channel partners, and Curtiss-Wright technical resources to develop new opportunities while providing appropriate support to existing customers and business.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, industrial sales, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Experience with control valves, industrial valves, process equipment, or related applications is preferred; familiarity with pressure-relief valves is also valuable. Candidates with strong regional relationships, exceptional networking skills, and a working understanding of control valves are encouraged to apply.
  • Established relationships within refining, petrochemical, chemical, or other process-industry facilities, with the ability to develop new connections and access key customer stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting, developing customer relationships, and creating new business opportunities, alongside the ability to support ongoing customer needs in collaboration with the broader sales team.
  • Working knowledge of control valves and industrial process applications, with enough familiarity with pressure-relief valves to recognize related customer needs and collaborate with technical specialists.
  • Strong networking, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the initiative to develop a market and the judgment to tailor an approach to the customers and opportunities in the region.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Regional Sales Managers, existing channel partners, and internal technical resources. Regional Sales Managers will continue to lead primary ongoing account management, while this role emphasizes market development and new opportunity creation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned region to establish customer relationships, uncover needs, and develop new business.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
