Job Description

Fortune Brands is building a company that is determined to win, and multifamily is one of the largest opportunities we have not yet fully captured. This role goes after it, supporting our Outdoors division and leading brands such as Therma-Tru, Larson, Fiberon decking and others across our portfolio.

As Multifamily Business Development Manager, you own a territory and the relationships that decide which products go into thousands of units: developers, architects, purchasing leaders, and the dealers and distributors who serve them. You set the plan for your geography, you run it, and you are measured on what it delivers.

You will work with real autonomy and the resources of a leading portfolio behind you. How we win here is not complicated. Execute every day. Be accountable. Do what needs to be done.

POSITION LOCATION: This is a remote, field-based position supporting our Outdoors brands’ multifamily business needs across the United States. Preference will be given to candidates located in or near Los Angeles, San Diego, or Dallas with convenient access to a major airport to effectively support customer engagement and travel requirements.

This role requires up to 50% travel, with approximately two overnight trips per month, primarily to customer locations and business meetings.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute a regional market strategy targeting multifamily owners, developers, architects, and asset management firms to grow Fortune Brands Outdoors product specifications and market share.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key decision makers inside multifamily developer organizations, including purchasing leaders and specification influencers, to retain existing business and secure new project opportunities.
  • Partner with territory managers, pro dealers, fabricators, and distributor networks to drive revenue through channel partners within your assigned geography.
  • Support execution of individual multifamily developer projects from specification through close, ensuring a seamless experience for customers and partners alike.
  • Contribute to regional efforts that advance national multifamily developer contract strategies, amplifying your local impact at scale.
  • Leverage internal finance, product, operations, and marketing resources to deliver solutions that meet customer needs and drive profitable growth.
  • Travel within your territory to maintain and deepen account relationships, with overnight travel approximately twice per month.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years demonstrated success driving multifamily specification of building materials through both contract and project pathways, with direct experience covering major metro geographies.
  • A track record of building productive relationships with purchasing and specification decision makers inside multifamily developer organizations.
  • Experience growing business at the multifamily builder level while developing and sustaining channel partner relationships across distribution and dealer networks.
  • The ability to operate independently and manage a complex, multi-stakeholder territory while delivering measurable revenue outcomes.
  • Proficiency translating cross-functional resources — finance, operations, marketing, and product — into customer-facing solutions that win business.
  • Valid State Driver’s License

Nice to Haves

  • Background in contract negotiation within the building materials or construction industry.
  • Experience managing or contributing to P&L accountability within a sales or business development role.
  • Familiarity with the hospitality vertical as a complement to multifamily channel experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
