What You’ll Do:

Divert is growing quickly across the country with a large number of infrastructure projects and industry programs dedicated to ensuring no food goes to waste. As we continue to scale our infrastructure platform that transforms the food value chains, we require an exceptional individual to drive business development efforts within our Industrials team. Central to our continued success over the coming years, this strategic position will have ownership over significant books of business that start with market discovery and opportunity identification through qualification, close, enablement, and growth. A strong collaborator, this position will work closely with colleagues across Marketing, RevOps, Customer Success, Product, and Operations with the following core functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Market Discovery and expertise across the region to effectively match facility capabilities and capacity with market needs. Mapping industrial customers and sub-verticals and understanding market dynamics, competitors, partners, and price points to win business and achieve revenue goals.
  • Maintaining and executing a pipeline to identify, qualify and win new business by thoughtfully connecting with key Customer stakeholders, developing a rigorous understanding of their needs, and creating solutions that leverage our offerings.
  • Advocating for the Voice of the Customer (VOC) within our team and the broader organization by ensuring that your understanding of market pain points and opportunities is communicated successfully. Ensure end-to-end concierge level experience through the business development and onboarding process, and a successful transition to customer success.

Location: This is a remote role, the person in this role is required to reside in the Mid Atlantic Region of the US and located near a major airport. Ideal locations are MD and VA.

Travel: 25- 50% annually

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in business development, customer acquisition, and project execution, AND
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in the energy, recycling, food & beverage, and/or transportation industries
  • Valid driver's license required for travel
  • Very strong communication skills with empathy for different audiences’ needs
  • Demonstrated success with data analysis in a commercial / business development context
  • Detail oriented, strong sense of urgency, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a larger, cross-functional team
  • Comfort with standard business tools, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Experience in physical operations, e.g., plant operations, manufacturing, or similar
  • Ambiguity-seeking with the ability to build customer pipelines, cultivate relationships and close deals
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth context with numerous internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability and/or boots-on-the-ground industry experience
  • Experience with solution sales of liquid (DAF / SAF sludge) waste, palletized waste, or physical operations, e.g., plant operations, manufacturing, or similar
