Job Description

Job Title:              Business Analyst

Department:      Project Management Office

Reports To:         Senior Vice President, Strategic Development

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Responsible for consulting with the business, designing solutions, and ensuring the timely implementation of business projects and business enabling technology. Deeply involved throughout the solution development lifecycle and is expected to take personal responsibility and ownership for delivery and results. Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gathers and documents business requirements, formulates use cases, participates in solution design.
  • Analyzes business processes, documents process flows, identifies process improvement opportunities.
  • Understands all aspects of the business process, key performance drivers, and operational report metrics.
  • Provide analysis, definition and direction in support of project activities.
  • Gain expert knowledge of the operational systems and utilization within the business process.
  • Responsible for gathering, designing and documenting details for success.
  • Acts as a primary contact for technology, reporting and process related analysis.
  • Assists the Project Manager with scope management, change management and solution definition.
  • Creates business requirements documents and/or functional specifications for new or modified systems and processes. Recommends system improvements.
  • Tracks requirements, provides status and ensures quality of solution throughout the project.
  • Participates in project communications, training materials, and business procedures/documentation.
  • Responsible for user acceptance testing, may be responsible for management and completion of quality assurance testing.
  • Conceptualize and design Dashboards and reports that are representative of the business unit’s productivity.
  • Support and/or facilitate business user systems training as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to understand the business sufficiently to develop and coordinate potential solutions.
  • Ability to orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications of limited scope or impact, etc., and/or to make informal presentations inside and outside the immediate work area.
  • Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside the immediate work unit.
  • Ability to understand opposing points of view on highly complex issues and to negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.
  • Ability to interact with Senior Management as an advisor on projects, and to act as a spokesperson on the Project Management methodology.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and business/systems analysis.
  • Strong ability to analyze business processes, develop process flows, identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services.             
  • Ability to work in a Project environment and have awareness of the application development lifecycle.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Excel, World, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science, information systems or analytical techniques preferred or equivalent work experience

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst. Experience must include working independently on large and complex projects that built or enhanced production systems.
  • 3-5 years of experience in mortgage industry – knowledge/expertise in mortgage origination, post-closing, and secondary marketing desired
  • Direct experience/expertise with Loan Origination Systems (LOS) – preferably BytePro
  • Direct experience/expertise with other core mortgage systems including product, pricing & eligibility systems (PPE), automated underwriting systems (AUS) and integrations, mortgage servicing systems, etc.

 

 

     

     

    Qualifications

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • This position is in an office setting with computer and general office equipment. The position requires the ability to move freely around within the department and other department locations.
