What you'll do:
You will directly manage and mentor a team of BSA/AML analysts responsible for a range of activities including customer onboarding, transaction monitoring, investigations, and SAR filings. You will help foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement within the Bank, while playing a key role in developing and maintaining processes and controls that align with the Bank’s risk tolerance, while partnering with BaaS customers to ensure their BSA/AML Programs align with the Bank’s standards.
- Directly manage the team responsible for manually reviewing customer onboarding applications that are not automatically approved
- Oversee the manual review process to ensure all necessary customer due diligence (CDD) is performed accurately and thoroughly
- Make final decisions on these manually reviewed applications, determining whether to approve or deny the customer relationship based on the bank's risk policies
- Maintain and regularly review the bank's high-risk customer list
- Ensure that Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) is conducted on all high-risk customers at least annually
- Manage and oversee the investigation and review of activity for all high-risk customers, documenting findings and making recommendations for account status changes
- Directly manage the team of BSA/AML analysts responsible for monitoring transactions and reviewing system-generated alerts
- Oversee the entire alert lifecycle, from initial review to investigation and escalation
- Make the initial determination on whether to file a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) and ensure all filings are timely and accurate
- Manage and oversee the OFAC screening process, including the investigation and resolution of potential matches
- Oversee the intake, investigation, and reporting of Unusual Activity Referrals (UARs) received from FinTech partners
- Collaborate with BaaS partners to ensure their internal controls and BSA/AML programs align with the bank's risk policies
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all law enforcement requests, including subpoenas and search warrants
- Manage the process for responding to these requests, ensuring all responses are complete, accurate, and provided within required timeframes
- Maintain detailed records of all requests and responses
- Assist the BSA Officer in the development and maintenance of BSA/AML compliance policies and procedures
- Manage and coordinate the bank's response to all BSA/AML/OFAC examinations and audits, both internal and external
- Ensure timely remediation of any compliance deficiencies identified during examinations or audits
What you need:
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in BSA/AML compliance within a financial institution and/or financial technology (fintech) company
- Proven experience managing or leading a team of compliance professionals
- Expert knowledge of BSA, AML, and OFAC regulations
- Hands-on experience with BSA/AML monitoring systems and case management
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
- CAMS certification is strongly preferred
