How We Work

  • Type: Fractional/Part-Time
  • Location: Los Angeles, CA—this role requires regular in-person availability for live consultations, classes, workshops, and events at our LA showroom
  • Schedule: Flexible hours that vary based on consultation demand, content production needs, and event programming, including evenings and weekends to align with when parents most need support
  • Compensation: $70 - $80 per hour

What The Role Is

We're looking for an LA-based Baby Gear Expert who lights up when helping parents make sense of all the "stuff" that comes with having a baby. You'll guide parents through big decisions across strollers, car seats, carriers, sleep, feeding, and more—always grounded in real-life needs, not sales pitches.

You'll support families through 1:1 consultations, group workshops, live webinars, and in-person events at our LA showroom. You'll also help shape how Babylist supports parents at scale by contributing your expertise to social video, product demos, and on-demand educational content that leaves families feeling informed, reassured, and never talked down to.

Who You Are

  • Warm, grounded, and confident on camera and in live settings—whether following a script or speaking off the cuff
  • A skilled educator who can translate complex product differences into simple, usable guidance for tired, overwhelmed parents
  • Quick to learn and committed to adhering to Babylist's standards for gear recommendations and guidance
  • CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician) certification strongly preferred; additional certifications related to supporting new parents (e.g., lactation consultant, postpartum doula, baby sleep specialist) are a plus
  • Experienced with baby gear through retail, 1:1 consulting, in-home support, or content creation

How You Will  Make an Impact

  • Guide parents through 1:1 consultations, helping them compare products, understand tradeoffs, and make confident decisions that fit their lifestyle, budget, and space
  • Host and co-host workshops, demos, and Q&As in our LA showroom, creating welcoming, judgment-free learning experiences for families
  • Lead live webinars and virtual events that help parents nationwide navigate their biggest gear decisions
  • Contribute your expertise to Babylist's content—including social video, product demos, and educational resources—that reaches millions of parents at scale
  • Review products and share insights that shape our recommendations and keep our guidance accurate, practical, and grounded in real-world use
  • Help evolve how Babylist supports families by providing ongoing feedback on what parents need most as they navigate gear decisions

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
