About COVU:

COVU is redefining insurance operations through a blend of human expertise and intelligent automation. Our platform powers workflows for independent agencies across several systems—from AMSs to carrier portals—and we’re building the future of work through AI-driven agents, smart automation, and deep integrations.

Role Overview:

We’re hiring an Automation Engineer to own and scale the automation of high-volume, browser-based and desktop workflows across our operations. From logging into insurance carrier websites and pulling customer data, to pushing it into forms and emailing documents, you’ll help build an internal automation engine that removes repetitive manual work from our agents’ day-to-day.

This role combines RPA experience (e.g., UiPath) with modern AI agent frameworks (e.g., OpenAI, Browserbase). You’ll also work closely with engineering, security, and ops to ensure reliability, compliance, and human-in-the-loop workflows where needed.

What You’ll Do:

  • Automate multi-step browser tasks involving logins, navigation, data entry, and file handling
  • Build secure, auditable RPA processes to interact with carrier websites, desktop apps, and forms
  • Handle MFA, session handling, and token refresh securely and scalably
  • Ensure visibility (logging, dashboards), defect monitoring, and graceful failure handling
  • Design for human-in-the-loop controls and secure fallback when needed
  • Collaborate with Product and Ops to identify new automation targets weekly
  • (Plus) Integrate AI agents for reasoning + flexible workflows (e.g., OpenAI)

Who You Are:

  • 4+ years in automation, scripting, or RPA-focused roles
  • Strong experience with UiPath and other tools like Robocorp, Selenium, Auto HotKey, or Playwright
  • Strong Python skills (bonus: JavaScript or Windows scripting)
  • Comfortable working in browser automation AND Windows desktop apps (OCR, forhandling)
  • Experience designing for security, observability, and maintainability
  • Bonus: Insurance domain or familiarity with carrier portals
  • Bonus: Familiarity with modern AI-agent frameworks (e.g., OpenAI with tool use, Browser base, Adept, etc.)

Why Join Us:

  • Automate real workflows used by 100+ agents across dozens of systems
  • Help build the foundation for AI-assisted operations in insurance
  • Stay on the frontier of RPA + AI agent tooling

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
