Job Description

Summary

Ares is seeking an Associate Vice President (AVP) with subject matter expertise in operational resilience and business continuity to join our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. Within ERM, we are committed to executing robust risk management strategies in support of the firm. This role offers a dynamic and multifaceted work environment, characterized by extensive interaction with various groups and a diverse range of projects.

The AVP will be core to developing and implementing a comprehensive business continuity and operational resiliency framework for the firm. This involves close collaboration with ERM and Resilience team members, as well as cross-functional partnerships to ensure the successful delivery of all components of the firmwide BCP framework. Additionally, the candidate will play a key role in other risk-related initiatives, including Third Party Risk, Crisis Management, Incident Response, and operational risk.

Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to design and implement governance frameworks for business continuity activities

  • Develop comprehensive business continuity plans at multiple levels, including enterprise-wide, regional, individual business departments, and functions

  • Design and organize training and testing of business continuity plans

  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to design, maintain and test incident response plans and playbooks

  • Conduct detailed reviews of events to remediation

  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis “BIA”, data analysis and dashboard reporting

  • Manage records of business continuity and resiliency in systematized risk databases

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish risk tolerance levels and recovery objectives for operational resiliency

  • Stay informed on industry trends to enhance business continuity and operational resilience programs  

  • Produce dashboard reports and presentations for business continuity and operational resilience

  • Assist senior team members with operational risk and vendor risk program activities including operational risk assessments, due diligence reviews and ongoing monitoring

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professionals (CBCP) are a plus but not required

Experience and Skills Required:  

  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience

  • Familiarity with Operational Resilience, Business Continuity Planning and/or risk management

  • Industry experience from a financial services or investment / wealth management organization is advantageous

  • Experience with Third Party Risk Management and/ or Operational Risk Frameworks is a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Preferred proficiency with technical risk systems such as Salesforce and advanced visual analytics tools such as Tableau or PowerBI

Reporting Relationships

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$145,000 - $165,000
