Innovation starts from the heart. At Edwards Lifesciences, we’re dedicated to developing ground-breaking technologies with a genuine impact on patients’ lives. At the core of this commitment is our investment in cutting-edge information technology. This supports our innovation and collaboration on a global scale, enabling our diverse teams to optimize both efficiency and success. As part of our IT team, your expertise and commitment will help facilitate our patient-focused mission by developing and enhancing technological solutions.

We're seeking an entry-level Associate Technical Product Manager, IT, with foundational knowledge in software engineering and AI systems to support the AI Engineering team in delivering AI-enabled solutions. This role contributes to translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements and supports disciplined execution of AI product development. The Associate TPM partners with senior product managers, data scientists, AI engineers, and platform teams to gather requirements, align on priorities, and support on-time delivery. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, a learning mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

How you will make an impact:

  • Product Ownership & Delivery: Support backlog management, including refinement and prioritization; draft and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, PRDs, and product requirements; partner with engineering to ensure requirements are clear, feasible, and testable; track delivery progress from ideation through launch and escalate risks, dependencies, and blockers.

  • Business & Stakeholder Support: Support the AI Engineering Liaison function for assigned business areas; gather and document business and functional requirements; support process mapping and future-state design activities; contribute to development of business cases, including value and feasibility analysis; communicate AI capabilities, constraints, and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Technical & AI Enablement: Develop foundational knowledge of AI/ML workflows, cloud platforms, and distributed systems; participate in system design and architectural discussions to support requirement alignment; review technical outputs for consistency with defined requirements; stay current on emerging AI and engineering best practices.

  • Program Coordination: Support project planning, timelines, and cross-functional coordination; help coordinate tasks across engineering, data science, and platform teams; assist in ensuring alignment with governance, security, and responsible AI standards; contribute to product adoption activities and post-launch evaluation.

What you’ll need (Required):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with no previous experience or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria

What Else We Look For (Preferred):

  • Exposure to software technology and technical solutioning, with a solution-oriented mindset (focus on understanding and applying solutions vs. building software)

  • Understanding of product development fundamentals, including design phases, gating, and design review processes

  • Foundational knowledge of AI concepts, with the ability to evaluate and articulate differences between approaches (beyond basic generative AI usage)

  • Experience in software engineering, technical product, or program environments (academia, internships, or co-ops)

  • Exposure to AI, data, or platform-based products through coursework or projects

  • Foundational understanding of software engineering principles and system design

  • Ability to gather and document clear, actionable requirements

  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Consistent execution and timely delivery of assigned work

  • Demonstrated growth in technical fluency and product ownership capabilities

  • Nice to have: exposure to cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), software engineering workflows, and Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Scrum methodologies)

  • Interest in or exposure to regulated industries

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.
For California, the base pay range for this position is $59,000- $83,000 (highly experienced).
The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).  Applications will be accepted while this position is posted on our Careers website.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
