Associate Technical Lead – Data Engineering (Data Modeling)

THE OPPORTUNITY 

We are currently on the lookout for an Associate Technical Lead – Data Engineering (Data Modeling) to join our team.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Requirements Gathering & Data Modeling: 

  • Identify the data requirements after discussing with business users and product owner. 

  • Create or update data product catalogs documentation based on the requirement including requirements. 

  • Designing data solutions considering consumer performance and maintainability. 

 

Data Engineering & Development: 

  • Coordinate and guide data engineers to make sure they follow the expected data engineering standards and design principles. 

  • Work collaboratively with agile cross-functional development teams and provide guidance for database design, query optimizations, and database optimizations while adhering to DevOps principles. 

  • Implementing distributed and highly available data processing applications that scale for enterprise demands. 

  • Adhere to Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery of solutions and ensure high code quality by following software engineering best practices. 

  • Be involved in projects throughout their full software lifecycle - from development, QA, and deployment to post-production support. 

 

Scalability & Infrastructure: 

  • Design and develop capacity/scalability plans for fast-growing data infrastructure. 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. 

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in developing enterprise-grade data processing applications. 

  • Data Ops Programming: Strong programming background in data ops (Python, Shell, SQL). 

  • ETL Development: Hands-on experience in the design and development of ETLs to process large volumes of data using cloud and on-prem tools such as Informatica, Apache Airflow, AWS Data Pipelines, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Spark, Hive (both batch processing and near real-time/real-time). 

  • Database Experience: Hands-on experience working with relational/NoSQL databases and distributed storage engines (HDFS, S3, Redshift). 

  • Streaming Data: Experience in working with streaming data using tools such as Kinesis, Kafka, Storm, Spark. 

  • Agile Experience: Experience in an agile environment and aligning Pod members on technical visions and path to implementation. 

  • Communication Skills:Strong communication skills that are influential and convincing. 

  • Interpersonal Skills: Hands-on experience closely working with non-technical people and sound knowledge of the business domain. 

 

Desired Skills (Nice to Have): 

  • API & UI Development: Experience in API development and user interfaces and related tools (NodeJS, AngularJS, HTML). 

  • CI/CD: Experience in code management and CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Gitlab, and Jenkins. 

  • Continuous Learning:A strong desire to continue to grow your skillset.
