The Associate Manager, Consumer Public Relations will help strategically position The Wonderful Company’s brands with media, influencers and other keys audiences with a focus on showcasing the unique story and iconic branding of America’s #1 Nut – Wonderful Pistachios.

The position will assist in the development and execution of communications strategies that raise Wonderful Pistachios’ visibility across the marketplace, including generating earned media coverage, bringing the brand voice to life across social media channels, identifying and negotiating partnerships, ideating and executing a broad array of public relations programs and events, and providing guidance to international PR agencies to ensure cohesive global brand messaging and best practices. The Associate Manager will work closely with the company’s internal marketing teams and leadership teams, and collaborate with other cross-functional departments.

The Associate Manager will report to the Senior Manager of Consumer Public Relations and contribute to the strategic and creative thinking for a portfolio of global brands. The role is part of a global internal communications team that includes Consumer PR, Corporate PR, Nutrition Communications and events and manages all public relations, internal and external communications for The Wonderful Company and its brands and businesses including POM Wonderful, Wonderful Halos, Wonderful Seedless Lemons, Teleflora, FIJI Water, JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, Lewis Cellars, Landmark Vineyards, Wonderful Real Estate and more.    

This position will be based at our West Los Angeles, CA office. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

Your Wonderful Purpose: 

  • Guide the strategic development and execution of integrated public relations plans for Wonderful Pistachios.
  • Lead U.S. consumer and trade media relations efforts, building relationships with key media and drafting messaging, press releases, and timely pitches that generate earned results.
  • Manage third party agencies as needed, including oversight of international PR agencies in China, India and Mexico.
  • Oversee the organic social strategy for Wonderful Pistachios to help showcase versatile usage occasions for the product, such as snacking, recipes, sports and fitness. This includes collaborating internally to source UGC and draft monthly social media calendars.  
  • Identify, outreach and coordinate event and social media sponsorships, collaborations and partnerships that elevate the brand.  
  • Identify incremental projects and out-of-the-box creative ideas such as collaborations, integration opportunities, and brand partnerships. 
  • Provide analysis on the impact of our campaigns and initiatives through ongoing media monitoring, coverage clipping, and recap reports.
  • Deliver presentations to internal teams and external stakeholders, leverage persuasive communication skills to drive strategic decisions and advance the organization’s goals. 
  • Coordinate and execute on-the-ground logistics for media activations, trade shows, in-person events and virtual events.
  • Collaborate with senior management and brand teams, and work cross-functionally with our marketing, advertising, research, and legal teams. 
  • Support the larger global communications team by sharing industry news, best practices, and submitting award opportunities.
  • Manage client budgets.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members. 

Qualifications

The Wonderful You: 

  • At least 4-6 years of progressive communications experience within an agency or corporate environment, with transferrable experience from relevant industries such as CPG/F&B, health/wellness, hospitality, sports, travel or entertainment.
  • Ability to articulate ideas clearly, write compelling press releases, create engaging content, and effectively convey messages to a variety of consumer audiences.
  • Proven track record to ideate, coordinate and confidently execute public relations campaigns, events and partnerships with minimal oversight.
  • Passion for media relations with an ability to secure earned branded coverage.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and the audiences they cater to. On-site training will also be provided to further develop and meet the specific requirements of social media needs.
  • Willingness to work occasional non-traditional hours due to international calls occurring in mornings and evenings based on the time zones of certain countries.  
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, delegate and ask for help when needed.  
  • Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented team player that takes ownership of projects, can work independently, and communicates project status effectively.
  • Knowledge of standard PR tools: MuckRack, Cision, PR Newswire/Businesswire, media monitoring services, Microsoft Office, etc. 
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or Advertising.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $90,000 and may include a discretionary bonus.  Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
