The Position
The Associate Director of Nephrology Key Opinion Leader Marketing will be a pivotal driver in shaping KOL engagement strategy. They will be accountable for KOL strategy and execution, as well as ensuring alignment on HCP related strategies on KOL engagement. They will seek to find a competitive edge and differentiation in NNI KOL strategies, set high standards, and cultivate KOL and Medical Society relationships. This role will drive collaboration across functions to optimize customer engagement and ensure consistency with brand/therapy area vision and message.
Relationships
Reports to Senior Director of Cardio Renal Marketing Responsible for providing interface with key internal and external stakeholders. Collaborates with counterparts across the teams in the TA & other TAs, cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, medical affairs, market access and policy/advocacy (MAPA), Centers of Excellence (COEs), regulatory affairs, other relevant NNI departments, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of KOL engagements, strategies, and execution.
Essential Functions
• Brand/Therapy Area Management: Define and execute KOL-related brand/therapy area strategic objectives, including KOL activation and experience strategies. Prioritize KOL needs and opportunities across therapeutic areas (TAs) and segmentation to inform actionable plans.
• KOL Experience Strategy: Lead the development and execution of KOL experience strategies and ensure transparent communication with stakeholders outside the department.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and present compelling management plans for endorsement, ensuring executable strategies are in place. Advocate for US marketing initiatives within the context of global marketing and closely coordinate campaign development, competitive defence, and ongoing strategic evolution of the brand/therapy area
• Global Collaboration: Execute partnerships with global colleagues on brand/therapy area strategies and key decisions. Represent the U.S. brand/therapy area in various NNI governance committees, effectively communicating KOL strategies and ensuring their execution aligns with global objectives
• KOL Engagement and Early Market Education: Design and execute KOL engagement strategies that build advocacy and support for the brand/therapy area.
• Thought Leadership Programming: Lead the development and execution of thought leadership programs, educational initiatives, and advisory boards with KOLs, driving awareness and credibility for the company and its products through well-coordinated activities
• KOL Interaction and Communication: Collaborate with KOL strategists accross other therapy areas to facilitate scientific communications between internal stakeholders and KOLs, ensuring mutual understanding of NNI products, pipeline developments, and emerging healthcare trends through effective processes
• Learning Event Coordination: Strategically coordinate participation in scientific conferences, symposia, and other relevant events to enhance visibility, brand knowledge, and direct engagement with KOLs, ensuring successful execution of participation plans
• Measuring Performance: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and a detailed measurement plan to assess the success of KOL experience strategies. Continuously analyze the effectiveness of KOL engagement tactics, optimizing execution to enhance customer interactions with NNI. Provide regular reports on implemented strategies' effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations for ongoing improvement.
• Continued Improvement: Cultivate a strong and supportive 'test and learn' team culture guided by engagement metrics and evidence to innovatively engage KOLs. Identifies and implements improvements to prepare for launch, development and/or life cycle activities
• Budget Management: Ensure effective management of the marketing budget to optimize resource allocation and drive impactful strategies. Regularly evaluate resource utilization to achieve productivity goals and departmental profitability
Physical Requirements
Hybrid Model: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.
Qualifications
• Requires a Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience including progressively responsible experience within sales, brand management/marketing experience within the pharmaceutical industry required
• Proven knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including medical, regulatory, clinical processes and market dynamics, especially within specified therapy area preferred
• KOL marketing experience leading brand/therapy area strategy development and driving impactful customer experiences is required. Experience within Nephrology preferred.
• Proven success in developing strategy through expert understanding of market and industry
• Ability to manage complexity, including the leadership of work across competing priorities
• Successful launch experience in a marketing role preferred
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable marketing strategies to guide customer experiences
• Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and ethical considerations in engaging with healthcare providers
• Proven track record of successful KOL relationship management and strategic collaboration
• KOL marketing experience leading brand strategy development and driving impactful customer experiences is required
• Proven track record of innovative market tactics/high impact results (based on metrics/ROI)
• Outstanding planning and organizational skills with exceptionally high attention to quality of detail and proven track record of results and follow up
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization as well as strong aptitude to build rapport and credibility with external customers
• Embodies leadership behaviours, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, a growth mindset, and driving focus and simplicity
• Experience with management of outside agencies
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
The base compensation range for this position is $ 116,810 to $ 216,100. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
