Overview

We’re looking for an Associate Creative Director, Art & Film to join the Creative, Advertising and Integrated Marketing team.  

You are first and foremost an advertising and film creative: a conceptual thinker and visual storyteller with exceptional taste, strong filmmaking instincts, and a portfolio of ambitious consumer advertising.  

You’ll help develop integrated campaigns for Windows, Surface devices and Services brands, concepting creative spanning launch films, creators, social and channels.  

This is a hands-on creative role. You’ll develop big campaign ideas alongside writers, drive creative projects with internal teams and agency partners, and help guide work from the first idea through production and final delivery. You’ll art direct film, collaborate directly with directors and production partners, and work with creative leadership to protect the integrity and quality of the work throughout the creative process.  

You’ll be expected to bring ambitious ideas, exceptional taste, and a high standard of craft to every project while helping make the work around you better. 


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities 

  • Translate strategy, consumer insights, cultural observations, and product truths into simple, surprising, and memorable creative ideas.  

  • Concept ambitious campaign ideas in close partnership with copywriters, helping shape the central idea and drive creative development.  

  • Drive creative projects with internal creative teams and agency partners from brief through concept development, production, and final delivery, continually pushing for stronger ideas and exceptional craft.  

  • Work directly with agencies, directors, production companies, illustrators, editors, VFX artists, and other creative partners to bring ideas to life at the highest level.  

  • Establish compelling visual approaches and creative worlds that strengthen the central campaign idea and can extend across multiple consumer touchpoints.  

  • Give clear, actionable creative direction and feedback to art directors, designers, agencies, and multidisciplinary creative partners.  

  • Present creative thinking clearly and persuasively to creative leadership, marketing partners, and stakeholders.  

  • Maintain a strong point of view on contemporary advertising, filmmaking, design, technology, and culture, bringing that perspective into the work.  

  • Manage multiple creative projects and productions simultaneously while maintaining a strong point of view and exceptional attention to craft.  

  • Contribute to a creative culture where ambitious thinking, collaboration, and world-class craft are expected.

Qualifications
 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related art field AND 4+ years experience in art design or a related art field working on computer games or entertainment. OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant professional experience as an Associate Creative Director, senior art director, or equivalent at a leading advertising agency or in-house creative team at a consumer organization.  

  • An outstanding portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, integrated campaigns, filmmaking, art direction, and visual storytelling at a high level.  

  • Strong experience developing consumer campaigns across television, film, online video, social, digital, OOH, retail, experiential, and other channels.  

  • Hands-on experience taking commercial film and advertising productions from creative development and pre-production through shoot, post-production, and final delivery.  

  • Experience working directly with directors, production companies, producers, cinematographers, editors, VFX partners, photographers, and other production specialists.  

  • Strong understanding of filmmaking and production craft, including cinematography, production design, casting, editorial, VFX, color, music, sound, and post-production.  

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a compelling visual world around a creative idea and extend it across multiple mediums and consumer touchpoints.  

  • Experience developing ideas collaboratively with copywriters and multidisciplinary creative teams.  

  • Experience developing nationally or globally recognized consumer advertising.  

  • Experience working on high-profile television, film, and integrated advertising campaigns from initial concept through final delivery.  

  • Experience within a leading advertising agency, consumer brand, in-house creative organization, or a combination of these environments.  

  • Experience contributing to large-scale integrated campaigns and enduring creative platforms.  

  • Experience mentoring or providing creative direction to art directors, designers, and multidisciplinary creative partners.  

  • Experience building productive relationships with leading directors, production companies, agencies, and creative talent.  

  • Recognition from major advertising, design, film, or creative industry organizations is a plus.  

  • Experience working in technology, entertainment, gaming, lifestyle, or other culturally relevant consumer categories is a plus.  


Art IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
